Finally Vaccinated on 3rd August ! I've been trying very hard to avoid #CucukMyAZ as I was afraid of the 3 day downtime 🥲 but I guess God knows better 😝 I know of some who had it easy and some who had it bad. I would say my 3 day downtime was bearable. Thanks to my parents, all I had to do was eat & sleep 💤 without needing to worry about the kids 🤭 or meals
.
Jabbed at 9am, I was #001, yea I'm #Kiasu like that 🥲 feeling lightheaded after the jab which I was enjoying. You know the feeling you get after waking up from Anesthesia? Yes, that. Very mild tho. Day 1, 6pm my temperature started to rise... as soon as it hit 38°c I gave in and took 2 Panadol Actifast 🤭 and went to bed. I sleep well thru the night
.
Day 2, I woke up feeling as though a truck ran over me, everywhere was aching except my hair & nails 😅 Temperature was still up & down, when it goes up i took Panadol Actifast. My head was pounding, Panadol did help a lil tho I wished I could take my Migraine Pain Killers instead. I spent the whole day in bed, I couldn't watch Netflix even if I wanted to cos my eyes won't let me. I couldn't even focus on something long enough, replying whatsapp was hard and I get agitated so easily. I also got hungry every 2 hours, I didn't know doing nothing also can hungry 😅 guess the body is working really hard
.
Day 3, which is today. Most aches are gone and whats left is bearable, even the headaches are bearable without medication, tho my arm now hurts and lifting them makes the pain worse. Temperature seems to be ok up till now, looks like I'll be able to finally get some work done since I'm able to type this 🤭
.
Second dose on 5th October, I'm hoping that the side effects would be much lesser...anyone done your second dose of #CucukMyAZ ? Can share with me if there's any side effects?

Sweaty smell VS smelly armpits
The weather during summer is exceptionally hot, and such a weather causes us to sweat profusely even when we are just outdoors for a few minutes. Whether we are in a public transport, restaurant, office, or elevator, sweaty smells might linger in these enclosed spaces.
Nevertheless, sweaty smell is still considerably bearable as compared to smelly armpits. As the name suggests, the unpleasant body smell comes from the armpits. They would still smell even when the person is not sweating, and it is difficult to get rid of the bad odor even after shower.
Chinese Medicine theories believe that besides hereditary factors, bad dietary leads to damp heat accumulation in the body. This is how a person develops smelly armpits. Individuals with the damp heat body constitution tend to give out a stronger odor. Other symptoms include oily face, acnes, appetite loss, bitter taste in the mouth, fatigue, and yellowish urine that often comes in a small quantity.
The best way to get rid of smelly armpits is to improve the body constitution. Drink rice daily and consume an appropriate amount of herbal tea to dispel dampness from the body. Cut down on meat, fried and greasy foods, as well as spicy and strong flavored foods like curry, and foods that are hot in nature. Also, avoid drinking beer, milk tea, and coffee.
Tea to relieve odor
Effects: Clears heat and relieves irritability. Promotes fluid production. Relieves symptoms of body odor.
Ingredients: 9g lophatherum, 15g smilax, 1 teaspoon green tea
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly and place into thermos, rinse with hot water once. Then add in hot water again to steep for 10 minutes. This tea can be re-brewed until its flavor weakens. For best results, drink weekly for 2-3 days. Two weeks for a treatment.
Note: not suitable for those with a weak stomach or prone to loose stool.

Peter Huang
💕Why I chose Taiwan #15 – Taihu Brewing Founder Peter Huang leads Taihu to become a platform for Taiwan young talents to carry out their dreams and express themselves
“Despite appearances, I’m neither Taiwanese nor have roots here. It took college (Williams College in Massachusetts – phenomenal place), to really bring me out to East Asia via Princeton’s immersion program in Beijing.
Post-graduation, I paid my dues shuffling numbers around in a spreadsheet. Craft beer made it bearable-ish. Working life began in New York, but ultimately landed me in Asia (nominally Singapore, primarily Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia).
Shuffling numbers was not the dream. So, as a responsibly stereotypical millennial, I had an urge to venture out on my own. Ideally, to try something at the intersection of opportunity and interest. Craft beer! The craft movement itself struck a chord - a yearning for what could be, rather than blind acceptance of what is. It is about building communities around delightful products and, critically, wonderful people.
When the opportunity to start Taihu appeared, my mind immediately went to Taiwan. Not necessarily because the culture is fantastic (though it is), nor because it has a strong cultural heritage (though it does), and not even because the island itself is a magical composition of mountains meeting oceans.
Ultimately, I chose Taiwan because of the people I met here. There’s a tired trope that you get two families in life, the one you’re born into and the one you choose. For me, that chosen family, well, it seemed like it could be in Taiwan.
Taihu Brewing’s logo (designed by brilliant local artist, Jess Lee) is comprised of a tiger and hops within a hulu (traditional Chinese alcohol vessel).
The hulu needs no explanation, but hops are the cornerstone of modern craft beer. They represent the innovation inherent in the space. In fact, the vast majority of the hops that we use are from the United States. Since the US is the epicenter of craft brewing (and has been over the last twenty years), the American hop industry (malt too, actually) is arguably the best in the world. It is for good reason that the most popular hops in category-defining IPAs are American.
The tiger is a nod to an earlier era when Taiwan was one of the “Four Asian Tigers.” Taiwan’s meteoric economic rise was accompanied by deterministic optimism, vibrancy, and general excitement about the future.
The tiger represents that energy. That sense of opportunity, positivity, and hope. Taihu’s 167 employees are almost entirely Taiwanese. Internally, we think of Taihu as more of a platform for young Taiwanese talent than as a brewery, a medium for that energy to express itself.
Our goal to attract and develop talent with the ultimate goal of developing the burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem here in Taiwan. One of our earliest team members, Sway, came on board as a bartender -- a fantastic bartender. At a small company, you do what you can, where you can, and Sway ended up taking up some of the slack in our logistics. Now she runs all of Taihu’s international supply chain (no small feat).
With luck, one day she’ll be running her own successful Taiwanese business, and, in doing so, perpetuate the cycle.” — Peter Huang, founder of Taihu Brewing

The end of 2020 approaches, and instead of focusing on what did not happen, celebrate that you are here right now, reading this post. This year brought so many challenges onto us, and has most definitely changed a lot of the way we used to think, behave and even what we value in our present and future. It’s also a full moon during this time, so take a moment for yourself to reflect. There are things that will happen that are out of our control, but the way we react is our choice. Have you tried seeing a different perspective? I want to thank YOU, for making this year a bit more bearable, to have something to look forward to, your kind words on my art, music and content. Your love, support and voice really does make a difference. With love from the bottom of my heart, Laura Ribeiro ❤️

In this video, I headed down to Chinatown to do a Mala Hotpot Challenge! Ri Ri Hong Mala Xiang Guo is a hawker stall at Chinatown that specialises in Mala Hotpot. Mala refers to the spicy and numbing flavour from the Sichuan peppercorns used in Sichuan cuisine, while Mala Xiang Guo is the style of cooking where a variety of ingredients like assorted meats and vegetables are stir fried in Mala seasoning, usually served with rice or noodles.
With my giant bowl in hand, I ordered 4kg worth of meat and vegetables, including beef tripe, sliced chicken, sliced beef, lotus root, noodles, peanuts, shitake mushrooms, tofu skin and b ok choy. The result was an intimidating bowl filled with a wealth of ingredients drenched in a deep red Mala oil and topped with fresh coriander.
Initially, the spice level was bearable for this 4kg bowl of Mala Hotpot Noodles, but the numbing sensation came almost immediately. As time went on however, the spice started getting to me and the physical heat of the area and dish further compounded my suffering. Probably due to Monster Curry, I managed to power through at a decent pace and completed it in under 40 minutes.
Head down to Ri Ri Hong Mala Xiang Guo for all your Mala goodness!
