ล่าสุด ทวิตเตอร์อย่างเป็นทางการของเน็ตฟลิกซ์ญี่ปุ่นได้ประกาศว่า จะนำเอาการ์ตูนดังยุค 90 อย่าง “คนเก่งฟ้าประทาน” มาสร้างเป็นซีรี่ส์เพื่อออกฉายทั่วโลก โดยได้ คาซุทากะ ซากาโมโตะ (Aggretsuko, Devilman Crybaby) รับหน้าที่อำนวยการสร้าง และ เทรุ โมริอิ จะมารับหน้าที่ควบคุมงานสร้างอีกด้วย

【特寫】日本漫畫新生代
2009年，《進擊的巨人》在日本講談社出版的少年漫畫雜誌《別冊少年Magazine》發表了第一期連載。十年來，書中反派巨人的足跡已經遍布日本流行文化的每一個角落。此漫畫系列截至2020年4月發行至第31卷，講談社已經發行了大約一億冊。根據原著改編的電視動畫片在國際上大獲成功，也催生了真人電影、幾款網上遊戲和其他商品，包括玩具、手袋及日本一款暢銷洗衣液的限量版。
講談社將面臨一個巨大的財政危機。多年來，《進擊的巨人》使這家出版商免受行業不景氣影響，現在，它將要面對這個問題。根據日本國家出版商協會（National Publishers Association）的數據，2017年日本國內紙質漫畫書的銷售收入跌至新低，2018年進一步下跌5％。日本書籍市場每年的規模為120億美元，其中漫畫書幾乎佔據當中一半的市場佔有率。電子漫畫書的銷售額是個例外，最近幾年一直穩步攀升，今年春天更是得到大幅提升，因為很多日本書店為了阻止疫情傳播都休業了。但是，猖獗的盜版和較低的價格使電子漫畫書沒有傳統紙質漫畫書那麼有利可圖。
串流媒體大戰的出現，也讓講談社面臨的壓力更大。由於Netflix和Hulu爭奪全球動漫串流媒體領導地位的戰鬥異常激烈，市場對適合改編的動畫故事的需求空前高漲。2017年，Netflix說服櫻井大樹從日本動畫製作公司Production I.G跳槽，引發行業重組。這間動畫製作公司的作品包括史上最成功的動畫作品之一《攻殼機動隊》（Ghost in the Shell）。櫻井大樹加盟Netflix成為首席動漫製作人後製作的第一部動畫連續劇就是《惡魔人》（Devilman Crybaby），根據講談社從1972年開始連載的超現實主義漫畫《惡魔人》（Devilman）改編。
如果說在講談社尋找下一部《進擊的巨人》過程中動畫片起到了驅動作用，那麼負責領導這項搜尋工作的川窪慎太郎將會堅持不懈地努力下去。根據他的描述，招募新人的過程幾十年來一直沒什麼變化：編輯從已經出道的漫畫家中篩選出喜歡的作品，還會在日本的漫畫專門學校或者公司舉辦的比賽中選拔新秀，努力孕育偉大的作品。――Joshua Hunt；譯 楊飛
