Combining hiking with history - the Lagazuoi in the Italian Dolomites was the frontline between Italy and Austria during WWI

Nowadays, you can take a cable car for a great view and even go down the tunnel!

Lagazuoi cable car tickets hosted

Seceda Cable Car is only a short walk via a ski escalator in the tow of Ortisei in the Italian Dolomites. It costs 32 Euros return but saves you three hours of trekking uphill. Once you reach the top, you can take a short hike to see the mountain range up close!

This was the last day of our week-long trip to the Dolomite and we drove back to Venice on the same day. For more information about our Dolomites road trip:

The Adolf Munkel Trail in Zanser Alms in the Italian Dolomite is a beautiful hike that takes you close to the ragged peaks. It's a relatively short hike with restaurants in classic alpine huts where you can get food!

The Lagazuoi cable car takes you straight up to 2109 m high where you can hike the Austrian Troop Way or go through the WWII tunnel!
It's only 30 mins drive from Cortina d'Ampezzo and a great combination of history and nature.
