在李文華院士帶領下，由本院 #基因體研究中心、中國醫藥大學新藥開發中心組成的跨機構研究團隊，歷經多年研究，於今（2021）年宣布👉破解胰臟癌細胞的訊息傳遞機制，並且合成出 #多胜肽分子，可以 #阻斷致癌訊號傳遞，#抑制癌細胞的生長與轉移。

🎯實驗顯示能有效延長胰臟癌小鼠的壽命，而且不會影響正常的免疫反應。研究成果已發表在國際期刊《科學轉譯醫學》（Science Translational Medicine）

💥原來，在胰臟癌細胞表面大量出現的受體（存在於細胞膜上的蛋白質分子）「IL-17RB」，容易兩兩結合，形成同質雙聚體，遇到配體IL-17B後，就會召喚激酶「MLK4」，催化蛋白質磷酸化，有如按下開關般，啟動後續一連串致癌訊號🔔 🔔 🔔
　　
為了阻斷癌化訊號傳遞🔕🔕🔕，研究團隊設計出多胜肽分子，它是一組胺基酸序列，可在細胞內特定位置取代激酶MLK4，阻止激酶與受體交互作用。相較於團隊2015年研發出的抗體藥物，治療更為精準，而且不影響患者免疫力。

目前團隊致力研發效果更穩定的 #小分子藥物，以利胰臟癌患者進行 #標靶治療。

Pancreatic cancer is known to be vicious, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the type that accounts for 95% of pancreatic cancer and so far it is still incurable. An added fact makes PDAC doomed lies in its tendency to have metastasis, meaning cancer cells have already spread to other organs, when diagnosed.
　　
In this study, “The results not only establish a clear pathway of how proximal signaling of IL-17RB occurs, but also provides insight into how this pathway is clinically significant in many pancreatic cancers.”, commented Dr. Chun-Mei Hu.

I don’t know a single Mandarin . So does Dr Halina but yet we send our girls to SJKC .
Why ? - Because we understand the importance of Mandarin .
It will be an advantage for the girls in years to come .
Furthermore it’s good to master many languages including Arabic and French.

But for those who plan to send your kids to a SJKC School ...it takes lots of effort and commitment .
Firstly you are unable to teach them .
You don’t really know what they are learning as all subjects are in Mandarin.
They certainly need extra classes.
Bella & Tasha have extra classes 4x a week .
They usually able to truly speak & write fluently when they are in Standard 3 .
Anything earlier - don’t expect too much .
It takes time for them to adapt as Mandarin is a tough language .
Bella is quite proficient in Mandarin but Tasha is getting there .

Different pronunciation will bring about different meaning .
It’s challenging but will be totally worth it.
Sending to SJKC from an early age is the only way for them to be fluent .
That’s the best way - surrounded by Chinese friends and environment .
Also I loved SJKC teachers - they are as strict as can be .
Memang garang - Haha

I PRAY FOR YOU... Surah Al-Mursalat is one of my favourite surahs in the Quran, especially the version recited by @omarhishamalarabi. I must confess that when I first read this surah many many years back, I didn’t take the initiative to read the meaning of this surah. When I came to carefully learn its meaning, it gave me goosebumps!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels frightened when hearing about The Last Day or The Last Hour. The day when there will be violent storms, great shaking of earthquakes. Thinking about the last hour, I reflected upon my life. They say that life is the result of our own actions. I couldn’t agree more! The seeds of our actions we plant in this world...we will taste its fruits in the life after. Whether the fruit is sweet or sour, we’re solely accountable for it!

And glad tidings from Allah be to those who bear patience. Patience when facing tough times. Patience when dealing with the loss of loved ones. Patience when suffering with great illness. Allah has guaranteed those who are patient that He will give them rewards without measure. Patience and victory are twin brothers. Allah promised those who are patient that He is with them and will grant them a clear victory!

I’m addressing you...anyone who is affected by sickness or illness, especially my dearest sister Mrs Mom @thefamily.uk. I sincerely pray for you: “May The Almighty, who is capable of making the impossible possible, heal you and give you strength. May He grant you a cure. May He grant you miraculous recovery. May the love, peace and comfort be with you as you battle this illness. May He cure you and reward you for all the suffering that you’re going through. May He grant you a complete return to normal health and make you even better than you were before.” 💝

It's actually much more easy-going now, since the situation in Hong Kong seems to be somewhat under control
Nevertheless it's always good to be prepared, and it never hurt to do a little more (if you can)
