Luke Martin joined the Foreign Service in 2012 and has served as a Vice Consul in Manila and Brussels, as Assistant Information Officer at the U.S. Mission to the European Union, and as Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer in Kabul, where he focused on educational exchange programs, including Fulbright. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Luke held senior positions in a number of organizations, focusing on nonprofit development, marketing, sales and business development, and spent five years as an English teacher, both in the U.S. and abroad. JR: Catherine, you do know this is a marketing company right? Marketing and education are totally different fields. Why do you think you’re qualified to fit in this position as a marcom specialist?
Cat: Well, I’m the person who welcomes challenges. I understand I’m trying to get into a totally different field, however, I’ve always had a passion for digital marketing. In my spare time, I would read books or study articles about content marketing, influencer marketing, SEO and all that. I even worked part time to manage C’s English Corner’s fan page.

Cat: I don’t have much hands-on experience. But working as an English teacher in the past five years, I’m pretty confident to say that I’m an observant person with flexibility and good communication skills.
