One of my absolute favorite festivals in the world is the YeePing lantern festival in ChiangMai, Thailand. Each year during the November full moon, locals (& now tourists as well) float lanterns off into the sky filling the world with wishes for blessings in the year ahead. This year I had the good fortune of attending with Paul Foster as we continued our #ViuNoSleepNoFOMO adventure of 60 sleepless hours across ChiangMai, Lampang, & Lamphun. The good energy, the beautiful vibes, and this sky full of floating lanterns soaring up to the full moon gave me just the boost I needed to stay awake til the very end of our countdown 🌕✨🙏🏼 No Sleep No FOMO will be out in Feb 2019 on your local VIU application! The original and best of all the lantern festivals is held in Chiang Mai Thailand every year and you won't want to miss out!

This is called the Yi Peng Festival (Loi Krathong), it was held right behind Mae Jo University in Chiang Mai Thailand. The festival is held on a full moon of the 2nd month of the Lanna calenday (which coincides with Loi Krathong, the traditional festival on the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendaพ)

During the Yi Peng festival, a multitude of lanterns are launched into the air where they resemble large flocks of giant fluorescent jellyfish gracefully floating by through the sky.

No colors were changed in Post Production. This is literally all straight out of the camera. There were two shots that I stabilized at 15% but besides that it's all straight out of the camera.
