I thought it is going to catch a fish (see the third photo) Turns out I stood there waiting for 10 minutes (just like the bird) and kept asking my friend “Do you think that it is targeting a fish and I’d going to catch it?”.
This is a great egret (大白鷺), with a yellow pointed beak. It can be easily spotted near rivers in Hong Kong.
Another one that looks very similar is little egret (小白鷺), which has a black pointed beak instead.
