Erawan Museum symbolize one man's dream, come to life. That man is late business tycoon Lek Viriyapant, the same lively, eccentric spirit that conceived the equally ambitious Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya, and Bangkok's popular Ancient City.
His aim was to create a space for his vast collection of Asian antiquities, to preserve them for Thai people and their admiration.
Khun Lek thought Eastern cosmology more apt, and decided upon an image of the Hindu elephant otherwise known as Erawan, to serve as the inspiration for his unique museum.

Each of its three levels symbolises a part of the Thai cosmos decorated with rare Eastern antiques.
The first floor represents the underworld and contains a collection of Chinese vases from the Ming and Qing dynasties and a history of the museum.
The second floor representing the earth (or human world) houses more precious antiques and arts including ceramics and European pottery.
The top floor represents the Travatimsa Heaven, which is located on top of Mount Meru in Buddhist cosmology.

Even though it’s located a bit out of town, i would recommend you to visit this unique place when you are in Thailand, this place is really out of this world.
