A.I. On People
This is my favorite application of A.I. The most important factor of success or failure throughout history is human. Us.
We need to understand 'us' before understanding other verticals.
What can A.I. do?
Artificial Intelligence is transforming the world in dramatic ways and is poised to bring even more sweeping changes that will affect all fields of human endeavour-from social interactions, consumer purchasing and healthcare to international relations and military operations.
Increasingly, politicians and businesses study people's perspectives using A.l.-powered data analytics and then accommodate their views to those of the citizens and consumers in order to gain more supporters for their cause. One of the greatest skills is the ability to attract people by demonstrating his or her interest in them and genuinely trying to understand the worldview.
We have seen how studying people's perspectives by employing Al techniques and then modifying their views help to gain more supporters. Politics-wise, Barack Obama's 2012 presidential campaign, Narendra Modi in 2014, Donald Trump in 2016 are all prime examples of how artificial intelligence can be a successful tool in politics.
Find out in this webinar how these are done i.e. the techniques that are being deployed; and how beyond political fields, these can be used by policy makers, corporations, research, traders, retailers, trade associations and business chambers, as well as media companies to manage their engagement with their stakeholders in the market place or community.
Join us this coming Friday at 11am Malaysian time. Please kindly register to see human from A.I insights.
(By the way, I have already applied A.I. on my personality. Awesome. Both good and not-so-good insights are being exposed).

With the many human rights issues and memorial days around the globe this past week, it is a good time to reflect on how each one of us contributes to the system and norms that allow some of the ugliest realities in the world today.
One of the loudest campaigns is the Black Lives Matter movement, which is not a trend nor an Instagram challenge, but a cry for basic human rights which should not even be happening today. The #BLM movement was widely spread through various forms of media, urging people to partake in the action or at least have some awareness.
However, the silence (and even ridicule) from Taiwan is deafening. Less than a handful of articles/threads/posts articulate the #BLM movement and racism from a Taiwanese perspective. Hence Aurora Chang and I decided to make this simple FAQ as a tiny effort to raise awareness of this issue from a Taiwanese context.
Yes, the #BLM movement may not directly affect lives in Taiwan, but we could look at our own backyard before criticising other countries — though Taiwan is mostly regarded as a racially homogenous nation, discrimination, xenophobia, and white supremacy are still very prevalent and embedded in parts of the Taiwanese culture. Obsession with specific beauty standards, idolisation of the West, and the determination of social statuses by cultural backgrounds or certain linguistic skills are just a few examples that I can recall vividly from my period of upbringing in Taiwan.
It is a privilege to be ignorant of #BLM and racism, but it is ignorant to abuse this privilege by turning a blind eye on it. Although Taiwan is oceans away from the countries where #BLM is most pressing, we could start conversations about #BLM and racism right where we are.

Do note that neither of us was raised entirely in Taiwan, so our understanding of the Taiwanese culture may be a little inaccurate. Nevertheless, just as everyone else on this topic, we are always keen to educate ourselves and discuss more about the issue, and we encourage you to observe and talk about it, too!
Let’s strive to become a better nation together :)

I cannot speak for the individuals whose choices have affected our world and our lives, but I can represent myself as I am.
I am proud and blessed to be human, and I appreciate all the different cultures which shaped me into who I am today. We are all incredible creatures of the Universe with equal blessings, capabilities and time, and being able to experience this life with the people we love and doing what we love everyday has brought nothing but happiness and joy; and I’m confident that there are a lot of people like me in this world who feel the same way. This is why we need to protect what we love by doing what we feel is right, deep in our purest hearts, even if it’s uncomfortable. We can’t do it alone and we don’t have to do it alone.
There is nothing new when we see ignorant individuals hiding behind the comforts of their excuses to divide and blame specific groups instead of taking the necessary and responsible actions in order to be the leaders we desperately need in these dark times. We are all leaders within our families, communities, professions and our personal selves. Together we can bring positive change to our lives by contributing our daily blessings towards unity and positive action. Every human being is entitled to pursue a life valued at our highest potential. If we must judge, judge the actions of those responsible, and not by their culture or beliefs. Judge the end results from the choices made to be aware of what needs to be done or celebrated. Being able to witness parts of the world uniting together on the road to recovery has not only provided a glimpse of hope for our future but also the miracle of strengthening our values as united human beings. If we must blame, blame ourselves for not taking good care of the needs of our world. I believe, not in perfection, but in growth and self-learning as there will always be room for improvement, even at the mountain top.
Understand that in most countries where human rights and freedom of speech are rarely protected and practiced, because the reality is, freedom is just not a public luxury for the majority. We need to give ourselves the chance to understand deeply and work out each other’s differences calmly instead of using fear to fuel our hatred and insecurities. Hateful words too often lead to hateful actions that can harm millions of lives, as we have witnessed throughout our history. Only clowns would be stupid enough to repeat them. Only the selfish would use this opportunity for their own benefit. If you were to imagine yourself at the end of all that is, ask yourself: what have you done or even said to contribute to our evolution and inner growth?
While our World fights bravely against the unknown, it’s clear to see that no matter the differences between our peoples and cultures, we are all in this together. This epidemic sees no color, respects no class or age, and recognizes only the best values of life. Victory only blesses the united, and now more so than ever, we must focus all our efforts, skills and resources to work with one another. Heroic examples set by all our health care workers, supermarket staff, restaurant cooks, delivery men and women, volunteers, inspiring leaders and everyone on the frontline providing and protecting all of us around the world. They are the true heroes of humanity, our true guardian angels. Thank you. - Al Rocco
- Al Rocco
