How are you doing sweeties?

Been quite a long time working from home and things feel a little better now. I can went out to visit some old & new cafe, enjoy movie time with Smelly over the weekends, try new food and shop for some new clothes & props.

Are you feeling alright? Is everything slowly come back? Or you still feeling so afraid to go out again? I can’t believe I can finished a bottle of 300ml sanitizer in a weekly basis. No matter where I am, I’m sure I’m holding a bottle of sanitizer spray with me.

Today visited to this cafe and quite lucky we got a parking after stuck at the traffic for a long time. I still got lots of things to catch up but just feel a little lazy lately, chanwon is desperately looking for a short staycation 🥲 So happy that the expired stay voucher can extend and I should plan a list like watching Netflix in the room and doing nth, then basically just eat sleep repeat for a whole day and get recharged from that little short staycation.

Other than having a staycation in the city, I really dunno where can I go lol

起因是一則貓咪模仿動畫

原來這是 #Netflix 原創動畫影集
Great Pretender《#詐騙之王》的片尾
題材類似詐騙喜劇《#瞞天過海》
故事刻劃一群專對壞人行竊的詐騙師
橫跨日、英、法、美、新加坡犯案
展開一場場充滿異國情調的冒險騙局
（這部的風格聽英文配音也很搭！）

英文的詐騙犯 con man / con artist
其實是 confidence man 的簡稱
也就是所謂的「信用詐欺師」
名稱源自「騙局」confidence trick
意指透過獲取他人信任來進行詐騙

「騙局」還有很多英文說法，包括：
confidence game
confidence scheme
fraud
scam
sting
swindle
ripoff
或者直接叫 con

所以下次看到confidence man
千萬別誤會成「有自信的人」啦！

而片名所引用的歌曲呢
歌詞是在描寫一名心碎的失戀者
他卻像小丑似的強顏歡笑：

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but there has been more and more rich Asians.⁣

Not as rich as the “Crazy Rich Asians” you see in the movie, but still pretty damn rich.⁣
⁣
And especially in Vancouver, where I live, you see them driving around in Lamborghinis, Rolls Royce, Range Rovers, Bentleys, etc.⁣
⁣
Have you ever wondered…⁣
⁣
How did they get so rich?⁣
⁣
Because, let me tell you, we weren't always rich. In fact, China was one of the poorest countries just half a century ago.⁣
⁣
So what changed?⁣
⁣
Well, there are many factors (economic and political) but today I want to tell you about a much more personal and psychological reason.⁣
⁣
It stems from a piece of ancient Chinese wisdom.⁣
⁣
In Chinese, it’s called “吃苦” (pronounced chi ku).⁣
⁣
Translated into English, it literally means “eat bitter”.⁣
⁣
I know it doesn’t sound too pleasant, but trust me - the results are amazing.⁣
⁣
This is the spirit that many Chinese embodied throughout the years and I believe it’s what separated them from the rest of the world.⁣
⁣
And I think we have a lot to learn from this.⁣
⁣
But what does “eat bitter” really mean?⁣
⁣
To put it simply, it’s a mindset.⁣
⁣
It’s a mindset of enduring pain.⁣
⁣
It’s a mindset of doing the things you know you should do, even when you don’t want to.⁣
⁣
It’s a mindset of taking risks towards a better life, even when it’s terrifying.⁣
⁣
With this mindset, the Chinese were able to immigrate to America, endure decades of discrimination, find the few opportunities available, and capitalize on those opportunities.⁣
⁣
With the mindset of “eating bitter”, they were able to create wealth from even the meekest of circumstances.⁣
⁣
But you might be thinking, why does “eating bitter” work?⁣
⁣
Simple.⁣
⁣
Think about what the opposite of “eating bitter” is.⁣
⁣
It’s to “crave sweets”.⁣
⁣
It’s to go after the short-term gains, the temporary pleasures, the empty rewards.⁣
⁣
If the Chinese lived by this philosophy, all they would be doing is eating donuts, checking twitter, and watching Netflix...⁣
⁣
Not the best recipe for success.⁣
⁣
So, what does any of this have to do with you?⁣
⁣
A lot.⁣
⁣
See, you don’t have to be Chinese to “eat bitter” or to reap the rewards of “eating bitter” - because all it takes is a decision.⁣
⁣
All it takes is a decision that you’re willing to do whatever it takes to create a better life.⁣
⁣
To create a better life for your family, or your friends, or that one person who believed in you, or maybe… just yourself.⁣
⁣
But all it takes is a decision to “eat bitter” today.⁣
⁣

這是一個希望多少能幫助到人的影片～
其實這幾年下來常常有人問我是怎麼學英文的
雖然我的口音也不是很純正 大概就是可以溝通順口不會太卡的程度
不過我覺得我還算是有自己找到一些蠻有效的方式讓自己的口說聽力進步
而且這些方法我到現在還幾乎天天在用 都變成習慣了～
久而久之英文口說的部分就進步很多（但讀和寫還是一樣爛哈哈哈）
不管你是在台灣還是在國外 我覺得只要有心一定可以把英文學好
畢竟英文相較其他語言來說還是比較多資源的～
現在我回台灣了 也很擔心越來越不說英文會退化得很快XDD

People have been asking me how i learned english growing up…
Though my accent is still not perfect, I can mostly handle the day to day communication :P
With that being said, i did develop some methods that i found quite useful to learn english,
hence why i chose to speak english on my channel here.
i believe that no matter where you are, it is always possible to speak english well,
as long as you put more effort into it - after all, english has more resources than other languages here in taiwan!
Now i’m back home, I do hope to maintain the fluency of my english… so wish me luck!
