身邊有沒有無辣不歡的朋友?三不五時便吃麻辣火鍋,甚至外出都要隨身自備辣油,為每一餐加添「滋味」?吃過一頓超辣的麻辣火鍋過後,第二天上廁所時連肛門都有火辣辣的感覺,其實是因為辣椒素無法被人體完全吸收或中和,所以隨消化道一直到達直腸位置,排便時「菊花」便有灼熱感,雖然這種灼熱感對身體沒有即時影響,但中醫角度認為辣具有宣散、行氣、祛散風寒、通血脈及發汗的功效,容易耗散氣血,以及加重身體的偏熱症狀,所以氣滯、血瘀、濕熱及陰虛體質不宜食用。
不少人在吃辣過後身體有兩極反應:腹瀉或便秘,因為辣是油溶性的,所以煮辣的菜式都添加很多油,脾胃虛弱人士未能消化油膩食物結果腹瀉連連;吃辣容易令人上火,耗損津液,令大便秘結不下,便出現便秘的情況,所以吃辣實在要適可宜止。
紓緩濕熱型腹瀉茶療:炒白扁豆生薏米茶
功效:健脾化濕、清熱止瀉,紓緩大吃大喝或煙酒過後的濕熱型腹瀉、大便質黏、氣味異常臭、或大便後肛門有灼熱感等症狀。
材料:炒白扁豆15克、生薏米15克
做法:材料洗淨,鍋內加入約800毫升水,武火煮至水滾後調文火煮20分鐘,把茶連渣倒進保溫瓶即可。此茶能反覆沖泡至味淡,建議一星期飲用兩至三天,連續兩星期為一個療程。

After a night of spicy hot pot, we can feel a burning sensation in the rectum when we visit the toilet. This is because the human body cannot completely absorb or neutralize capsaicin from the hot pot.. Bowel movements will then transport capsaicin down to the intestines, and this is why we can feel a burning sensation in the rectum when we excrete the waste.
Though the burning sensation will not have a direct impact on the body, Chinese physicians believe spiciness can disperse stasis, improve circulation of the qi and blood, dispel cold, and induce sweating. Hence, it can exhaust the qi and the blood, further aggravating the heat condition of the body. Therefore, individuals with qi stagnation, blood stasis, damp heat, and yin-deficient body constitutions should avoid eating spicy food.
Upon consuming spicy food, many people would develop two extreme reactions: diarrhea or constipation. This is because spiciness is oil-soluble, and this is also why a large amount of oil is always used to cook spicy food. As a result, individuals with a weak spleen and stomach will experience diarrhea because they cannot digest greasy food.
Besides, eating spicy food can cause heat to accumulate, and this will exhaust the fluid in the body, causing stool to turn hard and lead to constipation. Therefore, it is important not to consume spicy food excessively.
Tea remedy to clear heat, dispel dampness and relieve diarrhea: Stir-fried hyacinth bean tea with coix seed
Effects: Strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness. Clears heat and relieves diarrhea. Alleviates various symptoms caused by damp-heat-related diarrhea after eating, drinking, smoking or drinking, such as sticky stool, exceptionally bad odor, burning sensation in the anus following a bowel movement.
Ingredients: 15g stir-fried hyacinth bean, 15g raw coix seeds,
Preparation: rinse all ingredients. Combine all ingredients with 800ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Pour all contents into a thermos and tea can be re-brewed until flavor weakens. For best results, drink consecutively for 2-3 days. Two weeks for a treatment.

1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Soak pelted wheat in water for 2 hours. Cut peeled corn into pieces. Cut peeled carrot into pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hour. Add salt to taste.

黃汗 — 汗水偏黃色而將衣物染黃,多見於濕熱體質人士,需要清熱利濕。
自汗 — 不受天氣冷熱影響而白天經常出汗,靜止時也會出汗,多見於病後體虛、痰濕及氣虛體質人士。
盜汗 — 睡眠中出汗,睡醒後汗止,多見於多熬夜、多吃辛辣食物、陰虛體質人士,需要滋陰潤燥。

功效:固表歛汗,紓緩因為氣虛、痰濕引起的多汗的症狀。
材料:浮小麥15克、五指毛桃10克、桂圓5枚
做法:材料洗淨放入保溫瓶,以熱開水沖洗一遍,注入熱開水焗15分鐘。此茶可反覆沖泡至味淡。

Understand sweating
Summer is coming, and you may start to sweat a lot. Normal sweating is a way for the body to excrete and regulate body temperature. Abnormal sweating in Chinese medicine is considered a form of "sweating issue". For example, some people sweat too much and continue to sweat at rest; some people do not sweat and the body fails to clear heat properly; some people are particularly sweaty in a specific part of the body, etc. Do not mistake think that sweating only evaporates some fluid. The theory of Chinese medicine believes that "sweat is the fluid of the heart". Excessive sweating will hurt the heart and blood. If you have sweating problems, you should mark down the time, location and cause of sweating, and ask a registered Chinese medicine practitioner to analyze your body condition.
Common sweating symptoms:
Lack of sweat - inability to sweat, maybe caused by lack of body fluid, insufficient yang qi or clogged pores.
Head sweat- always a head full of sweat after a little movement but not sweating elsewhere on the body. Usually happens to those with heat that cannot be properly processed, insufficient yang qi or qi deficiency body condition.
Yellow sweat- yellow sweat stains on the clothes, this usually occurs for people with damp heat body type. They should clear heat and dispel dampness.
Unexplained sweating- sweating during the day without a weather factor, prone to those recovering from illness or those with phlegm and dampness or 'qi' deficiency body types
Night sweats- sweating while sleeping, and it stops when you wake up. Usually happens to those who frequently stay up late, prefer spicy foods and have yin deficiency. They should nourish yin and relieve dryness.
Healing tea for sweating
Effects: Strengthens the body and reduces sweating. Alleviates symptoms of excessive sweating such as qi deficiency, phlegm and dampness, etc.
Ingredients: 10g blighted wheat, 10g hairy fig root, 5 dried longan
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly and place into thermos, rinse with hot water once. Then add in hot water again and steep for 15 minutes. You can re-brew until its flavor weakens.
