Welcoming New Students and Value-Based Leadership
In the morning, i was speaking to new postgraduate students of IIUM. As much as I wanted to welcome them to IIUM in the official manner, I was inspired or inclined to make the speech informal and entertaining. To embark on studies during the pandemic time is quite challenging. Aware of this fact, I tried to make my speech as light and entertaining as possible. I can notice from the chat section that they were laughing and happy. I am happy when they are happy.
Welcome everyone to the garden of knowledge and virtue. In my speech, indirectly I emphasised on eco-system in addtion to lecturers and students. Some of the universities focus on students but neglecting the lecturers and more so eco-system or value chain of learning. This is a good theme for another time.
In the afternoon at 2pm, I presented my slides on value based leadership. The 2 say webinar session was jointly organised by AKEPT and IIUM. This is a normal presentation. What is new is that I have developed the slides based on big data analytics. Interestingly, my smart learning machine can capture leading core values in leadership on this planet by scanning all publicly published news (in all regions), reports and interviews in the last 3 months.
I was trying to bring the core values of the business world to public universities. The exotic stories of both Ma and Musk (Jack Ma and Elon Musk) in driving core values in business are always inspiring for many generations to come.
A very interesting day indeed. While I spoke to the students in the morning, I spoke to the lecturers and policy makers in the afternoon. While the first speech was informal and casual, the second speech was driven by big data analytics.

★★★★★★★★★★★★
When day comes we ask ourselves,
where can we find light in this never-ending shade?
For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it
If only we’re brave enough to be it
★★★★★★★★★★★★
We’ve braved the belly of the beast
We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace
或:
That even as we grieved, we grew
That even as we hurt, we hoped
That even as we tired, we tried
1. we will raise this wounded world into a wondrous one
2. We will rise from the gold-limbed hills of the west,
3. we will rise from the windswept northeast
where our forefathers first realized revolution
4. We will rise from the lake-rimmed cities of the midwestern states,
5. we will rise from the sunbaked south
6. We will rebuild, reconcile and recover
MLK 的演講:NOT FREE vs. FREE
Michelle Obama 最有名的演講: when they go LOW, we go HIGH
Amanda Gorman
That even as we GRIEVED, we GREW
That even as we HURT, we HOPED
That even as we TIRED, we TRIED
