We believe it's possible to rethink a lot of experiences through the lens of building community -\-\ including watching video. Watching a show doesn't have to be passive. It can be a chance to share an experience and bring people together who care about the same things.
That's why today we're launching the Watch tab in Facebook -\-\ a place where you can discover shows your friends are watching and follow your favorite shows and creators so you don't miss any episodes. You'll be able to chat and connect with people during an episode, and join groups with people who like the same shows afterwards to build community.
We hope Watch will be home to a wide range of shows -\-\ from reality to comedy to live sports. Some will be made by professional creators, and others from regular people in our community. We're starting to roll out the Watch tab to a limited number of people in the US, and the plan is to bring it to more people soon. I hope you enjoy!

In this episode, we went down to Hand in Hand Restaurant at Boat Quay to demolish a Dumpling Challenge! Hand in Hand is a restaurant that serves a variety of Chinese cuisine including Peking Duck and Fried Rice, but are renowned for their Xiao Long Bao and Dumplings. They have 2 outlets in Singapore, with the one at Boat Quay actually specialising in Peking Duck.
For this challenge, I ordered 10 servings each of their Dumplings and Xiao Long Bao, and told them to keep them coming. I started with the Dumplings, which were bigger than most dumplings I have had in Singapore. They were filled with shrimp and leek, with noticeable chunks of shrimp dotted throughout each dumpling. As they were fried, they were pleasantly crunchy on the outside while moist and juicy on the inside. The filling-to-wrapper ratio was very generous, which is particularly unexpected for such a large dumpling. Dipped in soya sauce, they were a treat to eat and I was relishing every bite.
Next, I tried their famous Xiao Long Bao. Steamed to perfection, each ball of joy was filled with a soupy, savoury filling that explodes in your mouth when you bite into them. As Xiao Long Bao are generally small in size, they easily fit entirely into your mouth and can be devoured quickly. Topped with soya sauce and ginger, they are the quintessential Chinese snack food suitable for most palates. Hand in Hand lives up their reputation of being an excellent Dumpling and Xiao Long Bao restaurant and my usually light-eating crew voraciously ate dozens of them.
Naturally, it became difficult towards the end even with the help I was getting, but this was one of the rare occasions where I enjoyed the bulk of the challenge and would certainly visit again for regular meal. This place would certainly be on my list of best Dumplings and Xiao Long Bao in Singapore.
Do visit Hand in Hand restaurant for their excellent Dumplings and Xiao Long Bao!

In this episode, we are back at Neo's Kitchen to masterfully construct an enormous batch of Mapo tofu! Mapo tofu is a Chinese dish from the Sichuan province, known for its uniquely spicy style of cuisine. It generally involves tofu, minced meat and some aromatics, doused in a slightly thick and luscious red sauce. The colour comes from the copious amounts of chilli paste and chilli oil used in the dish. Naturally, different variations exist, usually with tweaks to the intensity of the chilli flavour.
As we did not have our regular expert here today to help us, we made do with instant Mapo tofu sachets for the sauce portion (low heat Japanese style). After an eventful session in the kitchen, we managed to create a commendable potful of Mapo tofu and plated it with a bed of rice on my signature plate. Topping it with a beautiful egg yolk and coriander, the entire dish weighed around 4KG.
It was a nice, refreshing dish to consume, especially on a rainy day, and was hardly a challenge. The mild heat and pleasantly flavoured sauce with coated the tofu and meat went divinely well with rice, countering the ambient chill of the weather.
If it is a cold, rainy day and you see a Mapo tofu store, do not hesitate to go for it!

For this episode, we're finally back outdoors at Overrice, a Middle Eastern-style eatery located in Hotel Boss. They prepared a massive yet beautifully arranged version of their regular serving on my giant plate, comprising of a bed of rice, all three of their mains, some sliced vegetables, pita bread and two delicately dotted/squeezed sauces.
Inspired by Halal Guys in the States, Overrice was created by four friends with a mutual passion for good food who wanted to emulate it here in Singapore, but with a local twist. Even after much prodding, the owners refused to give up most of what was used in their dishes, showing a true commitment to their craft. Their spiced yellow rice is made with the more premium basmati rice and coloured with turmeric, giving it a pleasing aroma and look. Their chicken is marinated for over 10 hours and with 8 different spices, resulting in an exceedingly tender and moist chicken which was packed with flavour. For the pulled beef, it was equally as tender and flavourful as the chicken, but also had a spicy kick to it that would be sure to please spice-loving Singaporeans. The falafel came as expected, small, crispy balls of spiced chickpea that had a mild but pleasant taste, perfect for vegetarians. They also gave some chopped up lettuce and tomatoes, and fluffy triangles of pita bread that rounded off the meal perfectly.
The real stars of the show were the sauces. The white sauce was heavily addictive and complemented, if not elevated, each dish perfectly. It is made with yoghurt, sour cream, garlic, cumin, lemon and other unidentified spices from what I could gather. Even for the challenge, I found myself drowning the platter in the sauce. The red sauce was of course, too spicy for my taste, but for those who love some heat, it would be a dream come true. It is made with harissa, among other chillies, and when paired with the cooling white sauce, it became a true flavour explosion.
The right way to eat this would be to mix it all up together, something reminescent of eating a Nasi Lemak. Their usual offerings would be a smaller version of what I had, but with your choice of one main (Priced from $7.90 to $8.90). I thoroughly enjoyed this place and would encourage all my viewers to give it a shot, as the food is good, the owners are exceptionally friendly and they offer delivery.
