Been thinking about learning to speak a new language in 2021? Over the past few months I’ve been *bombarded* with emails about when I'm going to do another Chinese class, and I'm incredibly excited to announce that starting in December I'll be launching another round of my live, 10-week beginner conversational Mandarin course (see link below)! You may know me from my popular YouTube channel Xiaomanyc, and I'll be teaching the class personally.
The course is intended for total beginners and no prior knowledge is required. Here's what previous students have had to say about the class:

To observe their progress was pretty remarkable for me, and I'm honored to have had a hand in it. So anyway, here's what you'll be getting in the course:
* 10 weeks of live classes online, taught by me, including a weekly lecture and weekly office hours to practice conversation or ask questions.
* An entire, 100-page Chinese textbook that I wrote just for you!
* Lifetime access to our class Discord server where you can practice Chinese, ask questions about Chinese, or just practice!
* Free, lifetime access to the pre-recorded version of the course once it's complete.
Classes will be conducted on Zoom in two batches, Tuesday night and Sunday morning, US Eastern time. Max class size of 20 people -- this is a strict cap, and once the class is sold out it's sold out. No exceptions, so sign up while it lasts.
I love teaching these classes, but given my time constraints I do them pretty rarely and I don't know how many more I'll be doing in the future. And based on the amount of interest I've been getting lately, I also expect seats to sell out pretty quickly. Happy International Day of Sign Language
Just like spoken language, sign language allows us to communicate with one another. Within the language, lies numbers of stories, personas, characters and even cultures behind those who use it. We use spoken language everyday but how many of us can communicate using the sign language?
According to the World Federation of the Deaf, there are approximately 72 million deaf people worldwide. Unlike the rest of us, they are unable to communicate using the spoken language. They were not given a choice to be deaf nor do they have the option to use spoken language. The rest of us have a choice and we can choose to learn and be kind. Just imagine the possibility of us discovering arrays of beautiful people through sign language, the possibility would be endless!
On this day, I urge that we try to understand that just like any other languages, sign language is a language for all. But unlike other languages, learning sign language would allow us to help realizing human rights of people who are deaf.
Just like us, they too have the rights to communicate and be understood.

This week I attempt to learn to speak German solely from Google Translate. By using a combination of Google Translate’s built-in speech pronunciation and the flashcard app Anki, I memorize a bunch of sentences in German in an efficient way with spaced repetition and then try and have a conversation in German with Anja from @Learn German with Anja. This was a super crazy language challenge that honestly changes my opinion on how to learn languages – totally nuts!
