I suggest you start with curiosity.
Don’t ask yourself: “What is my passion?” That alone can send you into a micro-crisis.
Create your own Curiosity Project - watercolor drawing, blog writing, interior design, contemporary dancing, hosting mini origami workshops, jewellery design, podcast making, baking…
Whatever it is - pay close attention to your body, to how it feels while you’re doing it.
Do you feel excited? Do you feel a sense of flow? Do you feel alive? Do you enjoy it?
If it’s a no. Let it go. Congrats, you’ve discovered that it’s not for you!
If it’s a yes. Congrats, you’ve found something that makes you come alive!
After the Curiosity Project, if you feel a call to follow through, follow.
That’s how I opened my yoga studio in early 2015. I followed my curiosity for yoga.
Throughout it all, I always felt a call to follow further. I didn’t do that out of willpower or discipline. I did that out of curiosity.
Curiosity, as I have learned, can be very similar to love. It draws you in, pulls you closer, pushes you further.

If your mind (or any people) starts questioning you:
⁉️ "But are you any good at it? You’re too old, too inexperienced for it!"
⁉️ "Isn’t this a bit self-indulgent? "
⁉️ "Is this even useful?"
⁉️ "Who do you think you are to pursue this?"
Ignore them. Don’t let this incessant over-thinking mind make you second guess yourself. Your ego-driven mind does not know anything about passion or curiosity. But your gut and your heart know. 🙏 💛

A Renault 4 for you! The third collaboration piece with @呉竹Kuretake painted using their Kuretake Transparent Watercolor Palette 12 Colors Set. I wanted to do something more straightforward for this one because it's also about the "Student-only Watercolor Art Competition," which Kuretake is holding during World Watercolors Month!
Be sure to check it out:
Kuretake Watercolor Art Competition page: https://www.special.kuretake.co.jp/wwm-competition
Tools:
- Kuretake Transparent Watercolor Palette 12 Colors Set
- Kuretake ZiG Mangaka pen 0.5mm
- Fabriano Venice Sketchbook
This is also my entry to the #worldwatercolormonth2021 ! I will not be doing all the prompts, but let' say that this piece is for the "faithful" prompt. This car certainly looks like it's faithful, alright.
When we were still living outside of Tokyo, near Enoshima, on our way to the supermarket, we would always walk by a shop that was fixing and restoring old (mostly European) cars! I took a lot of photos of very interesting vehicles there! When I want to paint something a bit different from my usual landscapes, I often go for the cars folder. ;)
Thanks to Kuretake for sending me these awesome tools to play with 👍

The second collaboration piece with @呉竹Kuretake , this time painted using their Kuretake Gansai Tambi 48 "顔彩耽美" colors set! This was an exciting challenge to try - I want to get better at painting trees and especially thick forest-like scenes like this one. This picture had only really light underdrawing and no lines.
Tools:
- Kuretake Gansai Tambi 48 "顔彩耽美" colors set.
- Waterford White 300g/m cold pressed paper.
This is also my entry to the #worldwatercolormonth2021 ! I will not be doing all the prompts, but let's say that this piece is for the "breathe" prompt.
We were recently able to go to a Japanese garden that's located really close to our house. It was temporarily closed due to the pandemic, but it opened when the stricter rules were lifted (now, if you want to go, you have to reserve a ticket - this prevents crowds.) On the day we went, it rained a lot in the morning - we had an excellent storm for the first time this summer - so the green of the plants was intensive! I took a lot of photos and tried my best to recreate this humid and green atmosphere.
Thanks to Kuretake for sending me these awesome tools to play with 👍
