Trauma informed journalism. Do we have trauma awareness training at our news outlets? How much could it help our nation’s mental health if we did? Have been thinking about this a lot the past year and it applies to how the news is covered in general. With yesterday’s news, especially, read a harrowing account of one of the student’s experience with the news outlets outside their school. Should the kids themselves be the ones having to plead for compassion? (Am not saying this solely lies on the shoulders of journalists, this article shows how it’s more complicated than that. This is for the institutions.)
.
.
Sending love to all those affected.
To the kids, I’m sorry that you have had to experience such tragedy at such a young age. if you don’t have a grown up who knows how to guide you through this, it must feel so scary, i hope you know that it doesn’t mean that what you are feeling is not valid. There is nothing wrong with you. You are not weak. You are not making a “big deal” out of “nothing”. That’s how a lot of adults have been taught to deal with the things we’ve been through, too, so they might not know how to guide you. If that’s the case, do reach out to someone who is trained to do this. Sending you lots of love. Have included a list compiled by @thetapestryproject 🤍
.
.
To the adults, how difficult it must be. If no one has ever held space for your trauma, which shows up in many different ways, to have to learn how to do it for yourself and for those in your charge, that must be so hard. Sending you lots of love. Do take care of yourselves, if you don’t know how, do reach out to someone who is trained to do this. 🤍
.
.
It’s been a lot, everything has been a lot. There is a community called @safecircle.sg, they’re committed to building a more trauma informed community, this is something that all of us can learn to do. Perhaps we learn to hold space, perhaps we learn to give compassion, perhaps we learn to receive it, perhaps we learn to have difficult conversations, perhaps we learn to deal with our emotions, perhaps we allow ourselves to have emotions, perhaps we learn to validate, perhaps we learn to grief. Perhaps. 🤍

Time to fall in love?
★★★★★★★★★★★★

what do you mean by saying that 在 Hamka (Kereta Mayat) Facebook 的最佳貼文
Salah!
“Mata juling!”
Salah!
“Penataan cahaya yang salah”
Salah jugak!
“if i’m not mistaken, bulu mata sebelah kiri perempuan macam ada yang tak kena”
Salah!
“Pondan, pasti betul! Ha ha”
Salah!
"Bapok!"
Salah! Salah! salah!
Sebenarnya, akupun salah waktu meneka “What’s wrong with this photo?”
Tajuk debat mereka adalah: “Science and religion”
“panas…”
Panas sebab aku lupa maximakan air cond waktu tidur tadi, so up air cond dan sambung menontong debat aetheist dan paderi.
Waktu tu dah hujung rancangan, sekali paderi tu cakap:
"But I often say this with the greatest respect for Professor Dawkins, I really do hope that when you comes to the end of your life and you meets and I believe this and you meets God, I hope you will be pleasantly surprised. I really do"
(tapi kan, saya sering fikirkan ini, yang saya hormati Profesor Dawkins, saya benar-benar berharap bahawa apabila tiba saat akhir hidup anda, saya sangat percaya, anda akan bertemu Tuhan, Saya pasti anda akan sangat terkejut. Pasti.)
Atheist: I would ask God back, why did you create a world that was so convincing of your absence? (saya akan tanya tuhan balik, kenapa cipta dunia terlalu sempurna sehingga seolah olah Tuhan tidak wujud?)
Paderi : That is faith! (itulah iman!)
Atheist: Wow!
Deep sungguh!
Lalu jawab paderi:
“Buktikan juga melalui sains, akan bagaimana alam ini bermula, what something that begins us?”
Jawab si atheist: By the way, I don't presume that everything has to have a cause. That's just how the world has manifested thus far.
Paderi: But isn't that a scientific sort of cause and effect? Isn't that one of the bases of science, cause and effect?
Atheist : It's gotten us very far, but I don't.
Paderi : I mean, when you do an experiment, don't you look at cause and effect?
Atheist: Yes. But what I'm saying is, I don't then say the whole universe has to follow this rule. I'm open enough to other possibilities that maybe the universe always was.
Paderi: But see, I, in that case am probably being more logical and scientific. I would say that the human mind, as we understand it, presumes causes and effects, and at some point you have to have this kind of uncaused cause because it doesn't make sense to have this infinite regress. And by that, I say that's God.
Atheist: A quote that I utter that now I've seen on T-shirts, but I'm happy to repeat it here, is that the universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.
Paderi: Neither is God.
Atheist: Woha! I think we've got to wrap it up there.
End.
Sekian.
Ps: Jangan pulak korang tuduh aku murtad sebab sokong paderi dalam rancangan Star Talk tu, anggap macam kes Abu Bakar r.a yang mana sewaktu Rom berperang dengan Parsi (agama Majusi) maka Abu Bakar menyokong Rom sebab mereka adalah ahli kitab.
Woha!
