Ever since my debating days, I’ve always been proud whenever I travelled with the Malaysian contingent. We marched proud in our colourful traditional attires. When people asked about Malaysia, the first thing we talked about was our fundamental strength, our diversity.
What is Malaysia if we fail to celebrate inclusivity?
When I first read about the cancellation of Thaipusam public holiday by Kedah Chief Minister, YB Haji Sanusi, I was really disappointed.
Even worse was when he made a comment of “mabuk todi populariti”. The sheer disrespect and insensitivity behind the comment from the state’s highest official position was mortifying.
I understand that there’s danger in holding big celebrations during this pandemic. But, is it necessary to cancel off the holiday? Why aren’t our hindu brothers and sisters allowed to celebrate this important day within the confine of their own houses?
I am a proud Muslim and growing up, I have learned so much about other religions and cultures thanks to my upbringing and the beautiful festivities celebrated in Malaysia every year. It shaped me as a person to become more understanding and to respect and celebrate differences.
My knowledge on Thaipusam may be limited but I know that it isn’t merely a small celebration for our Hindu brothers and sisters. It is a devotional event for Hindus of all castes to show their appreciation to one of their Gods, Lord Murugan. Ever since it was first celebrated in Batu Caves in 1888, Thaipusam has become the most significant celebration related to Hindus in our country. To cancel the holiday is simply ridiculous!
If Thaipusam holiday is cancelled due to the pandemic, should we also then cancel all other holidays? Do we cancel the Chinese New Year, Raya Aidilfitri and Raya Haji holiday?
To my respected colleague YB Sanusi, what may be seen as small to you is actually the act of opening a floodgate of discrimination. Something has to be done from your side to rectify this situation.
In this pandemic, more than ever we have to be united. United across all races and religions.
I believe that we can all be better than what we’ve demonstrated this past year. I believe that the beauty of Malaysia’s diversity will be preserved and celebrated.
To my Hindu brothers and sisters, we are in this together.
From your fellow Malaysian,
Syed Saddiq.

Sample answer:
Nowadays, there are hundreds of useful websites that I **browse** on a regular basis, but the one that I like the most and use the most regularly is Youtube, which is a very popular video-sharing network especially among youngsters. Honestly, I love Youtube for several reasons. The first and most important one is that it has millions of videos of different categories of video makers from various parts of the world which are very entertaining. Youtube has a diversity of video types, for example discovery, music clips, fashion show,… Whenever I **get access to** Youtube, there will be many videos displayed on the screen and there are even suggested videos according to my interest so I don’t have to spend much time choosing the video that I like to watch. Secondly, Youtube can be very educating. In addition to funny videos for entertainment, there are also many **tutorial** **videos** which teach us how to cook different dishes, make up, decorate our house, do **handmade stuff** or even use **hacks**for **household chores**. I have to admit that my life has changed a lot thanks to Youtube as I am a cooking **buff** and I often spend my free time watching videos about cooking or kitchen hacks and my life is made easier thanks to those hacks. Though Youtube is convenient and is like an encyclopedia, I don’t think we should spend a huge amount of time watching videos as they can be very **addictive**and we cannot concentrate on our main work.

Change the Motivations of Why you Do Things
“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV)
If we’re not intentional with our thoughts, the world will swing us this way and that way with their messages.
Have you ever thought about why you do certain things?
Why do you wear the disposable face mask? Is it because you’re afraid of catching the coronavirus?
Change that motivation to wearing the mask because you think you look cool in it, or maybe that it feels good.
Protection from plagues and pestilences comes from the Lord.
Why are you working out? Is it because you’re afraid you’ll become fat or that your health will fail if you don’t exercise?
Switch that motivation to be that you’re working out because you think it’s fun and you enjoy exceeding your perceived personal limitations.
Fitness and health are both blessings from the Lord.
Why do you go to work? Is it because if you don’t work then there’ll be no money and your family will starve?
Think of it this way instead: You work because you find it fulfilling to contribute positively to society and be a blessing and testimony for Jesus Christ wherever you go.
Provision is a blessing from the Lord.
When we do things out of fear or worry, it shows that we believe that the things we’re afraid of are very strong.
That’s why hearing God’s word is so important. We have to constantly refocus back to Jesus and seeing Him as far greater than any problem.
Just by a simple mental switch and seeing the same thing from a different perspective, we can do things out of a positive, proactive choice instead of from a defensive stance.
This helps us to maintain a state of faith rather than unbelief. Unbelief is what blocks us from receiving the promises of God.
Let your faith be in Jesus and His finished work at the cross for everything you need in life.
Everything else you do is just to enjoy life’s wonderful diversity of experiences—not to earn your blessings!
Why did I want to write my new book “Messiah’s Miracles—The Power or Having Faith in Jesus Christ”?
It’s because I want to see Christians walk in a greater measure of the miraculous power of God in their daily lives.
How nice it will be to live in a world where the church is actively exercising dominion over the strongholds of darkness.
I believe that as you see Jesus working miracles in the four gospels, unveiling God’s heart of love, goodness and mercy towards man, you will also receive faith to see miracles in every area of your life!
You will also be able to walk in the power of God when you expect to see the supernatural gifts in operation.
Testimonials for the book:
“One of my most trusted teachers has truly written a masterpiece. I can't put this book down.”
- Michael Clark, Highly Sought-After Preacher in USA
“Thank you, Milton for the anointed sharing of the 37 miracles of Jesus. Right from the 1st miracle, God dropped fresh revelations of His heart to me. It wasn't head knowledge that I experienced. I felt His personality, His loving heart's intents towards me. On top of that, there's also revelation of His healing power. Praise Jesus for transforming my heart and bringing me closer to Him through Milton's sharing.”
- Ann Tan, GEM patron from Singapore
