Neil Druckmann รองประธานและผู้กำกับของ The Last of Us Part II กำลังตัดสินใจอยู่ว่าโปรเจกต์ต่อไปหลังจากนี้จะเป็นการพัฒนาเกมภาคที่สามดีหรือเกม IP ใหม่ไปเลย

เรื่องนี้มีที่มาจากบทสัมภาษณ์ของ GQ ที่คุณ Druckmann ได้อธิบายถึงเรื่องนี้ ว่าตอนนี้เขายังตัดสินใจไม่ได้ว่าจะเริ่มทำอะไรต่อไปเป็นโปรเจกต์ต่อไป

"เมื่อคุณเริ่มที่จะจัดการสิ่งที่กำลังทำอยู่ให้เข้าที่ได้แล้ว หน้าที่ต่าง ๆ ที่คุณจะต้องทำก็ลดลงไปด้วย แต่ความคิดของผมนั้นไม่หยุดตามไปด้วย และตอนนี้ผมก็กำลังคิดว่าจะทำอะไรต่อไปอยู่ดี อาจจะเป็น The Last of Us Part III หรือเกม IP ใหม่ไปเลยก็ได้ครับ"

"แต่ในท้ายที่สุด ไอเดียอันไหนที่ดีกว่าก็จะชนะไปครับ"

ซึ่งถ้าหากมีการพัฒนาเกมในภาคที่สามจริงก็น่าสนใจมาก เพราะเราน่าจะได้เห็นประเทศอเมริกาในส่วนอื่น ๆ ที่ล่มสลายเพราะภัยพิบัติ หรือจะมุ่งเน้นขยายประเด็นของตัวละครที่เคยปรากฏตัวในเกมภาคเก่าให้น่าสนใจขึ้นไปอีก

"แต่ถ้าหากต้องมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงเรื่องราวและปูมหลังของตัวละครที่มีอยู่ในเกมมากเกินไปแล้ว ผมว่าผมไปทำเกมใหม่เลยจะดีกว่า"

นอกจากการพัฒนาเกมภาคใหม่แล้ว ทาง GQ ยังได้คุยกับคุณ Craig Mazin ผู้ร่วมเขียนบทของเกมว่า ผลประโยชน์ที่พวกเขาได้รับจากการจับมือกับทาง HBO ในการสร้างภาพยนตร์ซีรีส์ของเกมนั้นจะช่วยให้การขยายเนื้อหาของเกมทำได้ง่ายขึ้นไปอีกด้วย

This is from the GQ interview that Mr. Druckmann explained this as he can't decide what to start next project.

′′ When you start to manage what you're doing, the duties you're going down, but my thoughts don't stop following, and now I'm thinking about doing the next thing. Maybe the last of the last of Us Part III or new IP game. ′′

′′ But in the end, which idea is better will win

If there is a real game development in the third part, it's very interesting because we should see America in other parts collapsed because of disaster or focus on expanding the point of character appearing in old games more interesting.

′′ But if there's a change in the story and the back of the characters that are too in the game, I think I'd better do a new game
