I had an extremely eventful day -good and bad but this moment stuck with me. This is a long post and I don't have a relevant picture but I really want to share this with you. I raced at the GetActive! Event today and the race was to start 15 mins earlier than scheduled. Unprepared for this change, I had to rush to get ready while my competitors (a mix of school and non athletes) patiently waited for me to pin my lane numbers to my tights (couldn't stay on without pins). I was embarrassed -it was rude and unprofessional of me, and I was setting the wrong example. But my competitor in Lane 7 (a lady in her 40s) came over and said, "let me help," and pinned my left while I did my right. We shook hands and I thanked her profusely both before and after our race. Moments like these are ones I live for. Kindness is everywhere, and there's an athlete and sportsman is in every one of us.
