「台灣與中國僅僅相隔81英里，兩地往返航班頻密，台灣2300萬的人當中，有85萬人旅居中國、40萬人在中國工作，去年更累計多達271萬的中國遊客來訪。這些數據，讓外界當初估計台灣在這次 #新冠病毒 疫情中，確診人數恐怕會高居全球第二...」
但是事實上並沒有喔～
堪稱全球四大醫學期刊龍頭之 #美國醫學會雜誌 (JAMA)，登載史丹福大學副教授 #王智弘 👨🏻⚕️的投書，細數臺灣因應這波 #武漢肺炎 各項明快有效的防疫措施，還表示 #對其他國家具有指導意義！
他提到台灣團隊有了當年 #抗煞 的經驗，在農曆年前第一時間就提前啟動防疫，迅速串連 #健保 #移民署 #海關 建立 #大數據分析，協助即時找出確定病例。
另外也運用 #創新科技，導入 #入境檢疫電子系統 和 #主動擴大社區篩檢，針對流感併發重症且檢驗為流感陰性者加驗，提高患者的發現率。
此外，王副教授還如數家珍般 (因為今年鼠年?🐭)，提到了 #1922 通報機制、#口罩增產分配 、打擊 #假消息 、民眾防疫宣導、疫情指揮中心 #每日召開記者會說明 等... 許許多多的亮點政策 (感謝大家在這段期間的全力配合!!🙏)，讓台灣不僅沒有變成當初預估的全球第二大疫區，確診數還遠遠排在後面呢！
不過文中最後也提到台灣防疫的挑戰，包括疫情資訊缺乏多國語文版，以及高強度的防疫措施能否持續到疫情結束，仍有待觀察等等。

A recent article appeared in JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association (@jamajournal) in praise of Taiwan’s response to the outbreak of the #NovelCoronavirus.
The report highlights #Taiwan’s integration of its National Health Insurance database and customs and immigration data—which allows the authorities to send real-time targeted mobile alerts depending on risk level, delivering either online health declaration forms or enabling the tracking of those confined to home quarantine. This integration also enables those who report severe respiratory symptoms to their doctors according to NHI records to be flagged for testing. The report also mentions the toll-free hotline (1922) established to ensure rapid reporting, the provision of patient travel history to hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, the boost to mask production and the fixed-price real-name verification system devised to control the supply of masks, preventing panic buying and price gouging in response to the crisis.
We also have room for improvement, according to the report, with not enough real-time communication in languages other than Mandarin and sign-language. We're always up for learning on our feet though!
