節瓜荷葉薏米花生湯
功效:清熱利濕,消腫減肥,紓緩身體四肢困重、肥胖等症狀。
材料:節瓜2個、荷葉30克、乾海帶約60克(或新鮮海帶一塊)、生薏米30克、茯苓15克、赤小豆40克、花生30克
做法:
1. 所有材料洗淨,乾海帶泡水備用,節瓜去皮切大塊備用。
2. 鍋中加入2500毫升水,放入全部材料,武火煮至水滾,調文火煮1.5小時,最後下鹽調味即可。

Soup to eliminate ‘greasiness’, avoid being an oily middle-aged man
Do you have the impression that all middle-aged men look the same? They have become plumper, with a beer belly and a receding hairline. Besides experiencing balding at the crown, some of their faces look oily too. Do all middle-aged men really look like this?
As we age, our metabolism reduces. If we still maintain the dietary habits that we had in our youth, we can gain weight easily. From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, weakness in the liver, spleen and kidneys is the primary cause for middle-aged men’s problems.
The lack of blood in the liver and the weakness of qi in the kidneys would cause hair to turn gray or drop easily. Weakness in the spleen and the accumulation of dampness in the body can cause us to look plump, experience fatigue and water retention. As for individuals with oily faces, that is related to damp heat body constitution. They have aversion to heat and sweat easily, and their sweat would leave a yellow stain with a bad odor on their clothes.
It is important to care for the liver, spleen and kidneys. Since we are in the summer season, let us solve the damp heat problem first! Start by eating a lighter diet and consume ingredients that can dispel dampness from the body, such as coix seed, rice bean, green bean, and bitter gourd. Avoid drinking coffee, milk tea, and beer. By cutting down on greasy food, we should become more energetic.
Tip on the ingredients:
Poria with hostwood is mild in nature. It helps to promote diuresis, dispel dampness, strengthen the spleen and calm the mind. Suitable for all body types.
Hairy gourds and lotus leaf soup with coix seeds and peanuts
Effects: Clears heat and dispels dampness, reduces swelling and aids weight loss. Relieves heaviness in body and limbs, obesity.
Ingredients:
2 hairy gourds, 30g lotus leaf, 60g dried seaweed(or 1 piece of fresh seaweed), 30g coix seeds, 15g poria with hostwood, 40g rice beans, 30g peanuts
Preparation:
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Soak the dried seaweed. Cut the peeled hairy gourds into pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2500ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hours. Add salt to taste.

網上瘋傳GM Diet減肥方法(美國通用汽車公司General Motors為員工研發的減肥餐單),號稱不用做運動,單靠調節飲食,一星期已可達到減磅效果,所以稱為「奇蹟食譜」,究竟神奇之處在哪裡?又是否人人適合?讓我們從中醫角度來拆解!
GM Diet食譜
第1日:只吃水果,例如蘋果、橙、西瓜、奇異果,但不包括香蕉,配合8至12杯清水。
第2日:只吃蔬菜,例如沙律、青瓜、椰菜花、薯仔、番薯等,配合8至12杯清水。
第3日:只吃水果及蔬菜,但不能吃薯仔,配合8至12杯清水。
第4日:只吃香蕉和牛奶,一天可吃8至10條香蕉和4杯牛奶,配合8至12杯清水。
第5日:食用指定份量的雞/牛/魚肉及6個番茄,配合12至15杯清水。
第6日:食用指定份量的雞/牛/魚肉及蔬菜,配合8至12杯清水。
第7日:只吃糙米及蔬菜,飲用果汁幫助身體排毒。
每天飲用奇蹟湯:由椰菜、紅蘿蔔、洋蔥、番茄、青椒、檸檬、橄欖油及水等煲成。
可以看到GM Diet以蔬菜及水果作為主要食物,短期內攝取大量纖維及水份,有助促進腸胃蠕動,增加排便,而所謂「奇蹟湯」近似手術前清腸胃湯,在手術一星期前開始飲用,以作清腸胃之用。由於湯只用蔬菜煲成,如果屬於濕熱體質,適量飲用有助紓緩濕熱情況;但如果氣血虛弱或陽虛體質人士,多喝此湯會進一步耗傷氣血,出現頭暈、疲倦乏力、心悸、怕冷等症狀。此減肥食譜並不適合每天使用,並要按體質應用, 適可而止。如有疑問,記得諮詢醫生、營養師或註冊中醫師意見。

The GM Diet
Day 1: Have any fruits you like (except bananas), such as apples, oranges, watermelon, kiwi. Drink 8 to 12 glasses of water.

Day 7: Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables. The fruit juice helps with detoxification.
Accompanied with daily miracle soup: Made with cabbage, carrot, onion, tomato, green bell pepper, lemon and olive oil.
The GM Diet relies on vegetables and fruits, which are high in fibers. Consuming a large amount of fibers and water within a short period can help promote the bowel movement. This so-called miracle soup is similar to the soup patients would drink a week before their surgery to clear their intestines and stomach.
Individuals with the heat-dampness body condition can benefit from the soup, as it is made from vegetables. However, it is not suitable for individuals with qi and blood or with the yang deficiency, as it would hurt qi and blood, and can cause dizziness, fatigue, palpitation, as well as aversion to cold.
This weight-loss plan is not suitable for daily consumption, should only be used when you have fully understood your body condition. Remember to consult doctors, nutritionists or licensed Chinese medicine practitioners if you have any doubts.

Pair rice dumplings with tea to aid digestion
Happy Dragon Boat Festival! The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival. It’s reasonable that everyone wants to eat some rice dumplings today. The main ingredient of the traditional rice dumplings is glutinous rice. It can replenish vital energy and nourish qi, relieve diarrhea and excessive sweating, warm the spleen and stomach, and has healing effects of stopping diarrhea and excessive sweating. Glutinous rice is suitable for those with qi deficiency, blood deficiency or yang deficiency. However, due to sticky glutinous texture, it is not easy to digest. Those with frequent abdominal bloating, abdominal gas, abdominal discomfort symptoms should consume with caution. Those with qi stagnation, dampness and phlegm or damp heat body condition should not eat too many. Those with weak digestion ability and the elders should eat less. Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly, cut dried citrus peel into shreds, and place into thermos. Rinse with hot water once. Then add in hot water again and steep for 15-20 minutes. You can re-brew until its flavor weakens.
