世界上最讓我和我太太Kathy感到驕傲的，莫過於我們的三個寶貝女兒。我們這一代的父母認為，為人父的就應該積極教導女兒，鼓勵她們發揮領導力、大膽追求夢想。我這個做爹地的除了接送她們上音樂課、教她們打網球正手拍、做鬆餅給她們吃以外，更得以身作則做她們的好榜樣。10月11日是國際女孩日，呼籲大家重視女孩的權利，以及她們在世界各地面臨的特殊挑戰。為響應國際女孩日，美國國務院全球婦女議題辦公室發起一個「爸爸和女兒」的活動來彰顯父女關係與性別平等的重要性。我很想聽聽台灣的父親和千金們如何改變彼此的人生，請於10月11日前在此貼文下方分享你的故事，並加上 #DadsAndDaughters 主題標籤，一起加入討論！我也將和大家分享我的故事。 --- 梅健華
There is nothing that gives Kathy and me more pride than raising our three amazing daughters. We are part of a generation of parents who believe that dads must be actively involved in raising their daughters, and who encourage daughters to be leaders in their communities and to go for their dreams. As a dad, I am responsible for being a strong role model, in addition to driving them to music lessons, teaching them how to hit a forehand, and cooking them pancakes. October 11 is International Day of the Girl, a day to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges they face around the world. In honor of International Day of the Girl, the State Department’s Office of Global Women’s Issues is launching a “Dads and Daughters” global campaign to highlight the importance of father-daughter relationships and gender equality. I would love to hear from dads and daughters in Taiwan how you’ve changed each other’s lives. Join the conversation! Share your stories with us between now and October 11 using #DadsAndDaughters.
