นายปรีดี ดาวฉาย กรรมการและกรรมการผู้จัดการ ได้มีหนังสือขอลาออกจากตำแหน่งกรรมการ โดยมีผลตั้งแต่วันที่ 24 กรกฎาคม 2563 เป็นต้นไป
ซึ่งมีการคาดการณ์กันว่า นายปรีดี ดาวฉาย จะก้าวมาเป็นรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการคลังคนต่อไป ต่อจากนาย อุตตม สาวนายน

或許讀者您已經知道，美國國務卿（US Secretary of State）是美國國務院（US Department of State）的首長。替總統管理與策畫一切外交事宜......欸，且慢，為什麼名字叫「國務」卻是掌管外交呢？
　
您是否像科宅編一樣滿頭問號。有點說叫管家去上班的感覺。這在中文和英文都一樣弔詭，並不是翻譯的問題。
　
怎麼不像中國國務院一樣，乖乖做個最高行政部門呢？中（華人民共和）國的國務院，是沿襲自中（華民）國北洋政府的同名、同功能的最高行政機關，首長是國務院總理。← 本文對該國介紹僅止於此。
　
美國國務院的歷史和其國家一樣長（或短，看你跟哪一洲比QQ），它的前身是外交部（Department of Foreign Affairs），成立於 1789 年，與第一屆總統華盛頓的當選同年。那陣子，甫成立的聯邦的全新國會開始立法成立各個政府機關，並規定他們執掌的功能。
　
事實上「美國外交部」正是聯邦第一個成立的部會。根據法案，它將協助美國總統執行憲法所賦予的，關於外交事務的行政權。
　
但接下來，名稱馬上要走歪了。沒想到「美國外交部」超短命，幾乎立刻就在歷史上消失了。這是因為 1789 年 9 月，國會隨即立了新法案把它改成今天這個名字。華盛頓兩次簽署法案的日期，分別是 7 月 27 日和 9 月 15 日，也就是說「美國外交部」在歷史上只存在了五十天，就要把招牌拆下來重掛很不方便。
　
剛成立的美國國務院仍然執掌一些聯邦事務，還蠻符合國務兩字。包括保存國璽。掌管聯邦鑄幣局。以及進行人口與土地普查。但這些國內的事，在接下來一百年間，都逐漸轉交給了新成立的其他政府部門。美國國務院就越來越專精於管外交事務了。職責包括發護照，保障美國公民在世界走跳無虞，以及協助美國企業在海外的投資等等。像是 美國在台協會AIT就是美國國務院根據《臺灣關係法》設置的民間非營利組織。
　
事實上，以美國在現代世界的軍事及經濟影響力而言，加上國務卿的職權亦和「美軍＋美金」息息相關，有著莫大影響力，可以放炮嗆聲北韓、伊朗、中國等......好不威風。我們可以偷偷把今日的美國國務卿想成「總管各國事務大臣」，國務院想成「世界各國國務院」，就是把 Secretary of State，Department of State 腦補加個 s 變成管各國，概念上雖不中亦不遠矣。但考試的時候請記得不要加 s，每日一冷關心您。
　
國務卿的實權極大，且只對總統一人負責，超過只是個備位元首而無實權的副總統，也高過參眾兩院議長。不過國務卿在「美國總統繼任順序名單」中只排在第四名，在副總統（兼任參議院議長）、眾議院議長、和參議院臨時議長之後。
　
最特別的一點，應該是從開國時期傳下的傳統餘緒：
　
當美國總統或副總統需遞出辭呈下台時（例如至今唯一一例：尼克森），辭呈遞交的對象是國務卿！造成令人錯亂的「上司向下屬辭職」的罕見狀況！
