學生最重要的質素是sensitivity and imagination,logical thinking,technical sense,administrative ability and power of self-expression。

分享《The System: Soviet Periodization Adapted for the American Strength Coach》書中對奧林匹克式舉重的看法。

THE OLYMPIC LIFTING CONTROVERSY
In recent years with the increasing emphasis on safety in strength training and what is termed “sport specific” training, the Olympic lifts have fallen out of favor with many strength coaches. The argument is that if you are not competing in Olympic lifting, there are better options for training explosive strength that translate more readily to sports performance, without the risks and strain inherent in rapidly moving heavy weights.
Variations of medicine ball throws or more creative exercises have taken the place of cleans, snatches, and jerks in the strength programming of many teams as coaches try to reduce those risks. In our opinion, the pendulum has swung too far away from using the movements that have consistently produced the strongest and most explosive athletes in the world.
The main goal of the Olympic lifts is to generate maximal power and explosive strength in the entire body through large ranges of motion, particularly for the lower extremities.
The differences you will most often find between the training regimen of an Olympic weightlifter and of athletes performing more “sport specific” training are that weightlifters consistently take the lower extremities through high-speed, large range-of-motion exercises. Many of the substituted movements and exercises used by a well-intentioned strength coach do not come close to demanding and developing the flexibility, coordination, and force output demanded by the weightlifting exercises.
It is true that subjecting an athlete to a full snatch or jerk with a substantial amount of weight without the proper instruction or progression will often result in injury. However, that holds true for any exercise. It is not the fault of the exercise, but rather the coach’s fault for failing to prepare the athlete to succeed.
Dynamic sports like football or basketball require suppleness and strength expressed through large ranges of motion; the Olympic lifts are more effective at facilitating those qualities than a medicine ball toss. If you assess an athlete to be physically capable of performing the movements safely and if the lifts are programmed and coached effectively and progressed in both weight and complexity, many concerns diminish.
You will discover that when implemented effectively and appropriately, the benefits of the Olympic lifts far outweigh the drawbacks.
A significantly high volume of Olympic lifting is best left to the athletes with at least a few years of training under their belts. For developing athletes such as these, the power and explosive qualities can be addressed through jumping or plyometric training as the Olympic lifts are coached and refined over time.
After mastering technical efficiency and form, no matter what the movement, speed should always be the priority. Although strength and muscle hypertrophy are important in the world of sports, the rapid expression of that strength is what separates athletes on the field of play.
In the sport of powerlifting, the speed of the movement is not critical. The goal is to lift the maximum weight, however long it takes. On the football field, the strongest linemen will rarely succeed if they cannot rapidly translate that strength to control an oncoming defender. A shot putter who can military press hundreds of pounds will not take home a medal without the ability to explosively accelerate the entire body to throw the shot.

Just a simple shoutout for the great work @theumonicsmethod has done with my nieces. I've seen a marked improvement in their spelling ability and grades, vocabulary expression, as well as creativity and imagination levels ever since they joined a semester of just twelve classes!
In ancient times, children were taught how to read, write, and memorise, but today, we are only taught how to read and write. Now, children can learn to use these techniques subconsciously just like how they would read and write.
The Umonics Method is the only memory improvement enrichment provider for preschools in Singapore, specialising in teaching techniques used by memory athletes during memory competition, and it has certainly benefitted my nieces, so I hope to share this with all the young parents out there!

A stunning fourth-quarter comeback led by Allen Iverson. A thrilling final-minute shootout between Stephon Marbury and Kobe Bryant.
The ball in Bryant's hands for the last shot. A pass that no one expected. A last-second miss. A postgame celebration worthy of June.
Yes, it was quite an All-Star Game.
Iverson, Marbury and his Eastern Conference teammates transformed what looked like a blowout loss into an improbable 111-110 victory Sunday in a performance fitting of the 50th anniversary of the game.
"It was like a championship game out there," Dikembe Mutombo said. "I've been in the All-Star Game the last seven years, and I've never seen anything like this."
It was the kind of game that might stop people dismissing the East as far weaker than the West, the kind of game that might make the casual fan appreciate the heart and determination of some of the younger stars trying to seize the spotlight in the post-Jordan era.
Mostly, it was kind of game that any fan of any sport would prefer to see — a riveting one.
Iverson scored 15 of his 25 points in the final nine minutes, and Marbury hit two three-pointers in the final 53 seconds as the East came back from a 21-point deficit.
Bryant, the NBA's leading scorer, could have taken the last shot. Instead, in a shock to everyone sitting in the building and watching on television, he threw a pass that resulted in a last-second miss by Tim Duncan.
"Everybody was saying we couldn't win because of our size. It's not about size. It's about the size of your heart," Iverson said. "Coming into the fourth quarter, we were all sitting on the sidelines saying 'Why not us? Why can't we be the ones to come back from a 19-point deficit (after three quarters) in an All-Star Game?"
Turns out they could.
While presenting the MVP award to Iverson, NBA Commissioner David Stern, with a sly grin on his face, told Iverson that great basketball "can be wrapped — if you pardon the expression — in very small packages."
The comment was a clever reference to Iverson's height -- he is an inch or two shy of 6 feet -- and Iverson's rap album, which was criticized for its lyrics and led to a meeting with the commissioner.
Iverson, who starred collegiately in this city at Georgetown and had a large contingent of family and friends in the arena, presented his MVP trophy to his mother.
"My family, my friends, everybody that's been with me through my struggles and pain knows it's a tribute," Iverson said. "I think it's going to be beautiful for years to come because every year it seems like we get somebody else with a different kind of God-given ability to add to this league."
The East trailed 95-74 with nine minutes left after the West dominated the first 39 minutes behind its superior size. It appeared the game would come out looking like a mismatch that would back up all the Western Conference superiority theories that have been thrown around so frequently this season.
But the East started pecking away, and Iverson walked over to the scorer's table during a timeout and asked if anyone wanted to wager whether the East would make a comeback.
That's exactly what the East proceeded to do, with Jerry Stackhouse and Vince Carter making three-point shots that were followed by a three-point play by Iverson to cut the West's lead to 100-96.
Iverson scored the East's next two points from the line, and Tracy McGrady tied it on a putback with 3:10 left.
"We had every reason to make this like a regular All-Star Game and lay down and stop playing, and it didn't happen," East coach Larry Brown said. "I had no idea we could come from behind. It was a wonderful ending for us."
Iverson scored the East's next five points, and a chant of "M-V-P! M-V-P!" was heard after his two foul shots gave the East a 105-104 lead.
But that chant might have revved up someone else, instead.
Someone named Bryant.
In a down-the-stretch performance reminiscent of his play in the Lakers' Game 4 overtime victory over Indiana in last year's NBA Finals, Bryant kept getting the ball and putting it in the basket.

Two wheels machine kind
In two wheels of BMWs, it is features that there are a lot of examples of adopting a mechanism different from the other two wheels. Especially, there are a lot of one to adopt two horizontal opposing cylinder engine and either a dry single board clutch and shaft drive or this.
* Length is put and two horizontal opposing cylinder engine.
It was adopted for "R32" first in 1923. The length putting layout to which the cylinder projects right and left is taken, and a basic layout to the drive shaft is alive and well as it is in R series today through the clutch and the transmission.
* Shaft drive
All cars that exclude the F&G series are the shaft drive models in BMWs though being equipped only by partially two wheel car in a Japanese car because the tail lift when starting is disliked. It is an advantage that it is almost maintenance free compared with the chain drive, and there is no power loss by sliding of the chain.
* Dry single board clutch
This method that the engine clutch and the changing the speed machine can be thinned more than a general multiplate wet clutch to queue up in length in the putting the length of the engine layout is adopted. (The multiplate wet clutch is adopted it is necessary to reduce the diameter to thickness in the K series of an engine horizontal putting instead of being able to do room. )
It is ardent to the adoption of the new departure, and adopts the following technologies for a car
on the market one after another in advance of another manufacturer in recent years.
* Pararebarriasaspention
Suspension developed to suppress tail lift when starting becoming problem in shaft drive being adopted first with R100GS in 1987. Naming is done by the synthesis of "Parallel" and "Lever".
Middle..winding..point..have..swing..arm ..arm..compose..link mechanics..rear wheel..actually..long..swing..arm..maint ain..tracks..draw..vertical motion.
* Tererebarfrontosaspention
It the first adopts it with R1100RS put on the market in 1993. Naming is done by the synthesis of "Telescopic" and "Lever".
Handling changes by the two-wheeled vehicle in a general telescopic fork reception desk suspension so that the caster angle may change along with the stroke, too. Moreover, the steer stability becomes small as the caster angle after it sinks greatly at the sudden deceleration and the buffer stroke is insufficient stands. Under such a condition, extremely dangerous phenomena such as the steering wheel's the front wheel's splashing when a strong pushing up is received from the road and swinging are generated. It is a thing developed to avoid this.
There is an evaluation of transferring it from the little movement of the front wheel forward when the suspension shrinks while excelled in the control stability compared with a telescopic expression by one step in a super-high-speed buffer ability, too. Moreover, it is difficult on the structure to enlarge the stroke.
By the way, it is BMWs to have adopted the telescopic expression reception desk suspension for the two-wheeled vehicle of mass-producing on the market first in the world. (R12,1935)
R series(two horizontal opposing cylinder engine)
R is taking of the initial of Rad (wheel and bicycle). The camshaft is on the side of the cylinder, and the valve can be classified there into drive and high cam OHV by a short push rod. The ground amount of the cylinder is higher than that of old R series.
