Withdraw to Quiet Places to Hear God
There is a reason why the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle is designed to be totally quiet. Once a year, only the high priest can go in there.
Outside, the Holy Place has priests ministering in it, and the outer court is noisy with lots of work going on.
In the Holy of Holies, that’s where God speaks. A still small voice, in a perfectly silent environment.
Throughout each day, find moments to withdraw to quiet places to pray, both in words and in tongues if you can.
Jesus did this often while He was on earth. He withdrew to mountains and hills to be alone and communicate with the God the Father.
For me who is at home with my wife and daughter all day long, the quiet times I have is during shower time and bed time. In between, also times when Mae is playing by herself and I have moments to read and write. Find the quiet times and places that suits you best.
Ask God for wisdom and favor, and listen with your spiritual ears. Wait for Him to show you in your spirit or mind. Don’t expect an audible voice, although He can do that if He chooses.
If He doesn’t speak yet, don’t rush ahead of Him. Continue to pray and wait for confirmation in what you’re asking for. For example, I don’t write anything until He gives me a passage or verse, and the revelation He wants me to share.
It is more difficult to do this when you’re distracted by emotions and the loudness of the world.
“Yahweh came, and stood, and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak; for your servant hears.”” (1 Samuel 3:10 WEB)
Be like Samuel who was attentively expecting to hear God’s voice. When God calls you by name and is ready to speak, be ready to hear!

The Godly Way to Prosper in All Things
“And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 AMPC)
The often quoted verse above is in the context of giving to supply the needs of fellow Christians, especially the needs of those who labor in preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“But it was right and commendable and noble of you to contribute for my needs and to share my difficulties with me. And you Philippians yourselves well know that in the early days of the Gospel ministry, when I left Macedonia, no church (assembly) entered into partnership with me and opened up [a debit and credit] account in giving and receiving except you only. For even in Thessalonica you sent [me contributions] for my needs, not only once but a second time. Not that I seek or am eager for [your] gift, but I do seek and am eager for the fruit which increases to your credit [the harvest of blessing that is accumulating to your account]. But I have [your full payment] and more; I have everything I need and am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. [They are the] fragrant odor of an offering and sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights. And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:14-19 AMPC)
The Philippian church had received a revelation of the gracious act of giving. Out of love for Paul, they contributed for his material needs.
They were generous, relentless, cheerful givers. To them, Paul declared the promise that because of their giving, God would liberally supply their every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
In other words, if you’re generous to fellow Christians, and especially to those who labor in preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, God will be even more generous to you.
God will out-supply what you gave to others. He especially loves those who give generous and happily, because such people really have faith in Him.
They aren’t afraid to give, even in times of financial famine or drought, because they believe that God will take care of them no matter what the circumstances are.
Paul is the same person who wrote this to the Corinthian church:
“[Remember] this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to someone] will also reap generously and with blessings. Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving]. [Prov. 22:9.] And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]. As it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on and endure forever! [Ps. 112:9.] And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity]. [Isa. 55:10; Hos. 10:12.] Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-11 AMPC)
This further supports the truth that you will experience God’s abundant supply of provision when you give by faith.
Your money is a seed. If you sow sparingly, you will reap a small harvest. If you sow generously, you will reap a big harvest.
You reap financial blessings in proportion to your level of giving.
You are not forced to give. Do it cheerfully out of a revelation that God wants to supply His beloved people through you, and that He will supply you with much more provision, so that you can keep on being blessed to be a blessing.
When you give, you don’t have to worry how the new blessings of provision will come to you.
God will use the power, wisdom and resources at His disposal to make all grace abound towards you.
You will find surprise money, unexpected promotions, new business deals, new creative ideas, Spirit-led investment leading, new customers, etc.
You will just walk right into the blessings prepared by God’s angels and Christians who are in tune with the leading of the Holy Spirit.
As you continue in this grace of giving, you will increase in wealth to the point whereby you can be consistently generous without your supply ever running out.
Be clear on which portion of your income is seed for sowing, and which portion is bread for eating. Don’t eat all your seeds if not you have no basis to expect a harvest!
Dear brethren, I believe that giving is where the rubber meets the road. Some believers want God to liberally supply their every need, but they clench their purse strings so tightly, hardening their hearts to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
The same believers won’t bat an eyelid to spend big sums of money for their entertainment, but when it comes to giving in church or supplying those who are in need, they don’t do it, or they do it sparingly and grudgingly.
You won’t become wealthy as a believer by default. You will prosper through the way God designed: giving generously by faith in God’s promises.
If you are a born-again Christian, you belong to Heaven’s royal family. You are a prince or princess. A royal priest to God.
Royalty are generous. They don’t need to be afraid of lacking provision.
If you want the promise of being enriched in all things and every way to be experientially real in your life, then start giving your way to God-given prosperity!

Takeaways from Proverbs 16
(Day 9 of #ProverbsHesedWisdomChallenge to read a chapter from the Book of Proverbs each day which corresponds to the date as suggested by Pastor Joseph Prince in 7 Jan 2018’s Vision Sunday sermon -
http://www.miltongoh.net/miltons-blog/the-year-of-hesed-wisdom-vision-sunday-new-creation-church-theme-of-the-year-2018 ):
There is no such thing as coincidence. Everything that we say or do is in some way guided by God.
We are either led to do something good, or allowed to do something bad so that we will learn a lesson from the experience.
God is much more in control than we know!
For a believer this is good news! I want to be directed by the Lord as much as possible.
I would rather think His thoughts and speak His words which produce life rather than my own fleshly thoughts and words which lead to death.
“The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, And adds learning to his lips.
The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the LORD.” (Proverbs 16:1, 9, 23, 33 NKJV)
When you align the desires of your heart with God’s will, you will get what you want.
“Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3 NKJV)
Mercy here is probably “hesed” which means grace.
Grace and truth (although two words but are in the singular tense) refers to the Person of Jesus. It is hinted in this verse that God would provide a means for man to be forgiven of all his sins through Jesus Christ.
In an earlier Bible study we have established that Jesus defined the fear of the Lord as the worship of the Lord.
Praising and worshipping God is a powerful way to allow evil to be broken in your life!
“In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the LORD one departs from evil.” (Proverbs 16:6 NKJV)
Want to live a peaceful life free from enemies? Pray that you’ll always live in a way that’s pleasing to the Lord.
The best method to live this way is not by trying not to do this or do that - it is by beholding Jesus in God’s word and being transformed from glory to glory.
“When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
In the light of the king’s face is life, And his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.”
(Proverbs 16:7, 16:15 NKJV)
This is why the devil keeps attack man because he knows that God loves us and wants to force God to do something unrighteous.
If God does something unrighteous, He would lose His throne.
Thank God for the wisdom of the cross that allowed us to be saved and forgiven in a righteous way!
“It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, For a throne is established by righteousness.” (Proverbs 16:12 NKJV)
Trust the Lord that wisdom is truly the most important thing to get and that you will be happy when you have it.
God has already said not to chase material riches, so focus on wisdom instead!
“How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.” (Proverbs 16:16, 20 NKJV)
Sin is a detour that slows you down from progressing in life.
Want to get ahead in life sooner? Then know the importance of not being distracted by sin.
“The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul.” (Proverbs 16:17 NKJV)
This is the power of words. What words are more pleasant than the words of grace in God’s word?
Speak them and receive happiness and health!
“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.” (Proverbs 16:24 NKJV)
Pray and keep feeding on God’s wisdom to gain self-control over your emotions.
A person who can do this has received great wisdom from the Lord.
“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” (Proverbs 16:32 NKJV)
