It has been 75 years since the words of President Ho Chi Minh echoed throughout Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi proclaiming the Declaration of Independence. Vietnam has come a long way. The dynamic, culturally-rich country is not only the pride of Vietnamese people everywhere but also one of the best places for foreigners to live in. Let’s find out more about their experience of living in Vietnam.

When I came over to Bulgaria, I didn't know a single Vietnamese person. The Vietnamese in Bulgaria originally came as students or as contracted workers since after the Vietnam War. Vietnamese people usually agreed to four or five year contracts to work in factories as a labor exchange system. When the Soviet Union collapsed and communism was slowly transitioning to capitalism, most Vietnamese people went back to Vietnam. Here are the ones who stayed behind and build different lives for themselves. This is another Vietnamese diaspora narrative that is seldom told. As most emigration experiences focuses on the plight of the refugees from the south. In an upcoming Belarus Vietnamese episode we'll dive deeper into individual stories. Thank you for watching this video!

Tuan and his brothers are the only Vietnamese American team (as far as we know) of Hollywood Paparazzi. Tuan is originally from Hoc Mon, Saigon, and made his way to Texas as a boat refugee in the mid 70s where his family settled in Austin. After serving with the National Guard, Tuan found himself in Hollywood where he soon picked up a camera and 15 years later here he is. Tuan's wife is due for her interview and new America life any minute.
Special thanks to Tuan, Tin, and Sam for letting us see their lives for a day.
Idiot Paparazzi is from Talkshow with Spike Feresten. I do not own this footage.

The Vietnamese second generation of Switzerland are truly inspirational. They not only love their motherland, but they are actively trying to share, spread, improve, and help keep their culture alive. It was an honor to be able to spend time in Zurich, Bern, and Lausanne and special thanks to everyone who reached out to me and helped me make this big project possible. This took 7 days to film, 5 days to edit. Thank you.
