早年在客家文化中，客家八音是喜慶廟會禮俗中不可或缺的元素，『丟轉（打八音）』(海陸腔)為早期老一輩的稱呼八音的說法，隨著口語化後漸漸轉變為「打八音」這個詞所取代。作品以樂譜方式呈現，使用老樂譜「工尺」譜的方式，撰寫客家的一些著名的小調於穿廊的兩側鐵門上，正前方的牆面上繪有三合院（禾堂）前樂師在演奏八音之景像。配合天花板上方吊置工尺譜造型的燈光，讓進入穿廊的人，即便沒有聽到聲響，也能感受到音樂韻律的圍繞，引領在客家庄的尋常場景中，感受客家市井生活的日常。

In early Hakka culture, the Bayin music was a quintessential element in all activities, be it wedding, funeral or temple festival. Beipu is a Hakka village, so the Bayin music is often heard in everyday life as a form of entertainment. “Tiu Zhon” (pronounced in Hakka’s Hailu dialect) is an older name for “playing Bayin Music,” which has rarely been used after the vernacularization of the Hakka language. The work adopts the form of gongche notation, an old method of recording music, and presents some of the famous Hakka tunes on the metal doors along the corridor, with a wall painting displayed on the front wall that depicts musicians performing Bayin music in the front yard (known as “he tang”) of a sanhoyuan (a traditional three-section compound). Together with the light installation in the form of gongche notation on the ceiling, visitors entering the corridor can seem to perceive the melody, even without hearing actual music. Using visual expression to kindle visitors’ curiosity, the work guides people to explore the everyday life in a Hakka village.

作品は「工尺譜」と呼ばれる古い楽譜の形を取っています。客家の有名なメロディーを屋内の両側にある鉄の扉にあしらい、前方の壁面には三合院（禾堂）の前で楽師が八音を演奏する様子が描かれています。天井には約3-5個の「工尺譜」の形の照明が設置され、室内に入るなり、音楽を聞かずして、音と韻律の雰囲気を感じ、視覚的に鑑賞者の好奇心をそそります。客家の村のありふれた風景の中に見られる、市井生活の一こまを感じられるでしょう。ＭoArt 冇芸宿の陳錦輝との協力により、古い市場の回廊に楽師が禾堂の前で演奏する情景を描きました。「禾堂」とは収穫した稲を干す場所で三合院の前の空地を指します。ここはもみを干し、脱穀する場所でした。八音の楽師もここで頻繁に演奏を行っており、客家文化の中で特別な場所と言えます。陳錦輝は北埔の芸術・文化推進者であると共に、アフリカンドラムの演奏者兼推進者でもあります。しばしば自宅の三合院の禾堂の前でドラムを打ち鳴らし、周辺の山々にその音を響き渡らせています。(文/ #浪漫台三線藝術季 官網)
