Today is Native American Heritage Day! The National Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C. is one of the world’s largest museums on Native Americans. Many people visit the museum every year to learn about the history, culture, and tradition of Native Americans, and it is a popular destination for school excursions. The museum’s Mitsitam Native Foods Café features indigenous food of the Americas. “Mitsitam” means “Let’s eat!” in the Native language of the Delaware and Piscataway peoples.
