#Foldable_phones have remained in the spotlight ever since #Motorola and #Samsung released #Razr_2019 and #Galaxy_Z_Flip, respectively. In particular, Galaxy Z Flip retails for about US$60 cheaper than its 2019 predecessor Galaxy Fold, making it the more relevant option in expanding the #foldables market.The difference in price comes from their different specs and target markets.
At the same time, it also reflects the fact that companies are testing different market segments’ responses through different products’ target use cases in the early stage of foldables development. So it only makes sense that a growing number of foldables with different designs will be released in the near future, possibly including #rollable_displays or even #displays with multiple folds. Consumer response will dictate which products survive the market.
#TrendForce forecasts a 0.4% share of foldables in the #smartphone market in 2020, over 1% in 2021, and 3.8% in 2023.
