在他的週日免費電子報Sunday Brain Food裡面
提到了一個有趣小故事
是他在1990年代時
在打工賣電腦的時候發現的一個現象
許多顧客上門來通常會選擇買他們所負擔得起最好的電腦
但總是選了一個最便宜的滑鼠

然而最後總是不可避免的
這些顧客會在一個月後因為滑鼠壞掉回到店裡
再買個好一點的滑鼠

這個過程會不段重複
直到他們最終買到一個比較好的滑鼠
最後這些顧客不旦多花了錢
也花了比原本多1.5倍的時間

從長遠來看通常看似昂貴的解決方法也許才是最便宜的
而看似便宜的方法卻非常昂貴

在幾年前
Shane Parrish的朋友花了一大筆錢買房子
某天他們去購物尋找一盞燈
朋友找到了一個他很喜歡的燈
不過價格似乎太貴了
最後
他選擇了一個稍微便宜一點點但他覺得還可以的那盞燈
而前幾天Shane Parrish參觀了朋友的家
