=================================
・get a present(プレゼントをもらう)
・get a message(メッセージ受け取る)
・get advice(アドバイスをもらう)
<例文>
I got a new laptop for my birthday.
I got a text from Mike and he said he's running 10 minutes late.
Who do you usually get advice from?
I got a speeding ticket this morning.
例えば、「仕事に就く・仕事が決まる」は get a job、「良い成績を取る」は get good grades、「昇進する」は get a promotionと表します。 は「How much does he get a month?」
<例文>
It took me a couple of months but I finally got a job.
I got good grades when I was in high school.
I heard you got a promotion. Congrats!
It's an easy job. I get 20 bucks an hour just for watching the dogs.
と聞く場合は「What are you going to get?」
<例文>
I really like your scarf. Where did you get it?
You already got the iPhone 12? Did you pre-order it?
I'm thinking about getting the B.L.T sandwich. What are you going to get?
Don't worry. I'll get it today.
日常会話では、go and get ____ のように表すことが多く、例えば「僕が取り行くよ」は「I'll get it.」または「I'll go and get it.」 と聞く場合は「Can you get me?」または「Can you come and get me?」、「迎えに行くよ」は 「I'll get you.」もしくは「I'll go and get you.」
✔「迎えに行く」はgo and get、「迎えに来る」はcome and getで覚えましょう。
<例文>
I'll get it for you. What do you want to drink?
I'm going to go and get Hiro from the train station.
Oh no. I forgot my mask. I need to go back to the car and get it.
この表現は、「I don't get it.」
<例文>
I think I'm starting to get it. Let me practice a little more.
Why is that funny? I don't get it.
Do you get what he's saying? It makes no sense to me.
Have you been waiting long?(遅れちゃってごめんね。
<例文>
There's so much traffic. What time do you think we'll get there?
Have a safe flight! Message me when you get to Okinawa.
I got home, took a shower and went straight to bed.
状態の変化を表す時は一般的に getting ____ の形式が使われ、例えば、「疲れてきた」は 「I'm getting tired.」、「お腹が空いてきた」は「I'm getting hungry.」、「寒くなってきた」は「It's getting cold.」
その他、「〜しやすい」をget ____ easilyと表現することができ、例えば、「私が暑がりです」は「I get hot easily.」、「彼は飽きっぽい」は「He gets bored easily.」、「彼女は嫉妬深い」は「She gets jealous easily.」
<例文>
I'm getting hungry. Do you want to grab dinner soon?
It's getting chilly these days. It's starting to feel like autumn.
I carry around a blanket with me because I get cold easily.
例えば、「風邪を引いた」は「I got a cold.」、「インフルエンザにかかった」は「I got the flu.」、「彼は病気になった」は「He got sick.」 ちなみに、「頭痛がする」は「I got a headache.」、「熱がある」は 「I got a fever.」、「喉が痛い」は「I got a sore throat.」
<例文>
It sounds like you got the flu. Drink a lot of water and rest up.

I think I got a cold. I got a fever and a sore throat.
<例文>
I finally got my dad to stop smoking cigarettes.
I can't get my son to do his homework. What do you think I should do?
My cat pees all over the house. How can I get her to pee in her litter box?
--------------------------------------------------
get to do somethingは「〜する機会を得られる」を意味し、have the opportunity toのより口語的な言い方として使われます。例えば、「国際交流パーティーでいろいろな人たちとお話しすることができました」と言いたい場合は「I got to talk with a lot people at the international exchange party.」 I got an/the opportunity to ____ と表現することもできますが、日常会話ではan/the opportunityを省くことがよくあります。
<例文>
I got to travel all over the world in my twenties.
Did you get to see the autumn leaves when you were in Japan?
At the spring training camp, I got to meet some of the Dodgers' players.
例えば、「電車に乗ろう」は「Let's get on the train.」、「バスを降りよう」は「Let's get off the bus.」、「プールに入ろう」は「Let's get in the pool.」、「ここから出よう」は「Let's get out of here.」

Guard Your Heart with Psalm 91
“I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes, and see the recompense of the wicked. Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone.” (Psalms 91:2-12 WEB)
Remember that true protection comes from the Lord. Meditate on the Scriptures and confess them over yourself and your loved ones. Guard your heart from the fear and worry that is being perpetuated by the media.
When you believe and speak God’s word, God’s power is released in that related area of your life. His words are spirit and life, not just inanimate ink on a page.
A refuge is a place that you flee to after being attacked, while a fortress is a place you can preemptively position yourself to be far from the enemy.
Whether you have been attacked or not, Jesus is your source of safety, protection, and healing.
Someone may say, “What about those Christians that got it? So many in that local church got sick. How can God’s promises be true?”
Well, one needs to believe in God’s promises before he will experience it. They do not manifest for a Christian who is unbelieving and stricken by fear.
We do not know their state of mind at the time when they fell sick, and what their local church teaches about God’s protection. Some do not believe in it.
I like that Psalm 91 specifically shows that we can believe God for protection from everything that the world is afraid of nowadays. We do not have to guess God’s will in this case—it is plainly written.
Even if you hear of news about people getting sick in your neighborhood, God’s word remains true: a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
The enemy probably hates it when you believe this. “What makes you think you are so special? Others are dying and in critical condition, and you have the cheek to say that it cannot come near you?”
You are specially protected if you believe in God’s promises. You are a sanctified child of God who has access to His protection by faith. His angels will be mobilized to guard you in all your ways, to destroy every weapon of the enemy near you.
Sometimes, believers who just stumbled and sinned feel unworthy of experiencing God’s protection. They feel like the hedge of protection has been lifted because they sinned and that God does this to teach them a lesson.
That is a false assumption that is not true under the New Covenant of Grace. Committing sin can cause your conscience to accuse you, but we must know that Grace is all about believing in what Jesus has done at the cross.
You can enjoy God’s protection from all manner of harm because Jesus shed His blood to make you forever righteous and favored in God’s sight. Protection is not a reward that you have to earn through good behavior. It is freely given as part of the salvation package—but you must believe in order to enjoy it!
Actionable Steps:
1. Meditate on Psalm 91 today and see which portion of it resonates deeply with you. Keep it in your heart and mutter it with your mouth throughout the week ahead.
2. Include words from Psalm 91 in your daily prayers for your family in the morning. Before everyone sets off for work or school, take time to tune everyone’s heart to be conscious of God’s lavish protection.
3. Look out for anyone you come across that feels unsafe or fearful because of the current situation. Encourage them with promises from Psalm 91 and tell them that Jesus loves them. There is always a good time to plant seeds of the Gospel in people’s hearts.
Our Patreon community is currently on a Bible Study series called “The Way Forward: How to Thrive Amidst Change”.
In a time of great fear, how can we as Christians thrive when the world is changing the way they do things? Many in the world are depressed and terrified because of the things that are happening around the world; the change ambushed most people so suddenly. Yes there is deep darkness covering the earth, but there is always hope for God’s children.
The Holy Spirit is giving us a word in season, showing us how to tap on the grace that is available now, and how to reign in life, even from your living room. I’m excited to see what He will show us in the days ahead!
This Bible Study series will be compiled into an eBook once we complete it.

Distance is Not An Issue
“For though I am absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.” (Colossians 2:5 WEB)
At that time, there was no Internet technology. There was no way to hop on a Zoom online conference call to speak to the churches. Instead, the apostle Paul saw visions of the churches in his spirit, and that is how he could see their order and steadfastness of faith. Having the Holy Spirit in us is like being connected to the Internet. We are connected to all the knowledge and power that God has.
Nowadays, the local church that I attend is not allowed to hold in-person church services due to government regulations. As a result, all services are held through online broadcast instead.
Although I miss sitting in the physical services, worshipping the Lord together with other believers, I believe that online services are no less powerful than in-person ones.
Many people are more comfortable with ‘the human touch’, such as receiving prayer in person, having a pastor to place his hand upon them while praying, but this physical contact is actually not absolutely necessary.
In His second miracle, Jesus demonstrated that the power of the Holy Spirit is not limited by distance.
“Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.” The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. As he was now going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!” So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.” So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house. This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.” (John 4:46-54 WEB)
Jesus was in Cana, while the sick boy was in Capernaum. Just by speaking the words “your son lives” in faith, the power of the Holy Spirit healed the boy from a long distance away. Jesus did not have to lay hands on the child in order for him to be healed.
The nobleman initially thought that Jesus had to go to his house before the son could be healed. However, when Jesus released the words, “Go your way, your son lives,” the nobleman believed, and that was enough to receive the healing in proxy for his son.
We know that the nobleman believed because he met Jesus at the seventh hour (between 1 - 2pm). Cana and Capernaum are about 25 miles apart (about 6 - 8 hours walking distance) so if the nobleman set off immediately, he could be back home the same day at night to check on his son.
However, we see that the nobleman only spoke to his servant the next day. This means that the nobleman stayed at an inn or something for a night, and trusted that his son had been healed. If he had been unbelieving, he would have rushed home right away so as not to miss his son’s last moments, since he was “at the point of death”.
There are other long-distance healing miracles like this one, such as Jesus healing the Roman centurion’s servant, and Jesus healing the Syrophoenician woman’s demon-possessed daughter.
Continue to feed on the rhema word that God is releasing in season. Whether online or in-person, God’s power is still fully effective, and is not limited by the distance or channel.
As long as you hear or read, believing it, you shall experience the manifestation of the rhema word.
In the nobleman’s son’s case, the word in season was “your son lives”.
Earlier this year, I felt like I was coming down with a flu. I was sneezing repeatedly and my nose was dripping. I felt weak and irritable.
As I was praying in tongues and also asking Jesus to heal me and make me well, suddenly I heard these words in my spirit: “he grew strong through faith”.
Instantly, I knew that the Holy Spirit was talking about the apostle Paul’s description of Abraham in “Romans”.
“Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.” (Romans 4:21 WEB)
This was a rhema word for me to be healed. I grabbed it and repeatedly confessed and meditated on this, that I was growing strong through faith.
Abraham grew physically stronger through faith. He was already old and weak, but because he believed in the rhema word which God spoke to him, he and his wife Sarah experienced drastic youth renewal.
Their saggy skin, old internal organs, weak muscles, and dry bones were all renewed miraculously, allowing them to be fit for childbearing and even raising a child.
As I kept confessing “he didn’t consider the deadness of his own body, but he grew strong through faith,” I felt physically better and I did not sneeze or have runny nose anymore.
It was just a few words, but I emphasized on the “grew” and “strong”. Suddenly, each word was pregnant with life-giving power for my situation.
Faith comes through hearing the rhema word of Christ. What is He saying to you? As you are listening to a sermon video online, what is the key message or statement that jumps out at you and makes a strong impression in you heart? Sometimes the Lord whispers a verse or passage to you from within. Grab it and declare it for yourself because it carries the miracle-working power of God to turn your situation around!
Actionable Steps:
1. Get yourself plugged in to a ministry that preaches the Gospel. Listen to the new messages released by the pastor or preacher. If the Holy Spirit led you there, then you will benefit from believing the rhema words that is released through that ministry.
2. Train your mind to believe in the limitless reach of prayer. Pray for people who are far away from you, knowing that God will answer your prayers of faith, regardless of the distance between you and them.
3. When you receive a word in season (rhema word), write it down in your notebook or somewhere so that you do not forget. Revisit these words often and declare them, so long as you are still waiting for the manifestation.
