IKI ISLAND (壱岐の島)
The Golden Week is over and we are back studying hard, but much like most of Japan we had something special for this holiday. Our students in Fukuoka had a great time exploring Iki island.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the locals who were eager to show us their beautiful home. Our hosts have organised so much for us; starting from Kite Flying, Shrine Visiting, Monkey Rock hugging, and the BBQ, to just spending some very much needed relaxing time at the beach.
After visiting Iki Museum, we found that the island was an important trading port for merchants from Korea and China. For such a small place it offers a lot so we have to go back some day in the future to continue our discovery.
By the end, we were all very tired but happy, especially after a beautiful festival-like farewell. We will be back.
