Hi Everyone! Bet every family has a recipe or two that they cherish— family recipes. Family recipes are certain foods that remind us of warm feelings & happy memories with the ones we love. These can be foods our family always makes for celebrations & events &, more often, foods we enjoy eating together all the time.
.
Family recipes tell a story. They’re often connected to people, places, & special memories. They have a who, a where, & a why. You’re making family history when you prepare & eat these foods with your family.
.
These delicious Sui Kau & Wanton Dumplings are Hong's family all-time favourites. My kids will help out to wrap them each time I made them in the kitchen - "Many hands make light work" as the sayings go.
.
My eldest daughter loves the Sui Kau & can stomach 8-10 at one time while youngest prefers the deep-fried Wantons instead. My young son Hong Kah Lok is just happy to eat all. Hubby & I, we just eat everything!
.
Minced pork, prawns, mushroom, carrots, scallions & coriander all mixed together & seasoned with salt, pepper, oyster sauce, sesame oil, light soya sauce + one very special magic powder - my homemade Halibut or Flounder Powder (Chor How Yi) makes tons of difference!
.
Do you have a favourite at home too? Do share with me in your comments.

Today, I'm going to make "GYOZA"
Gyoza is fried dumplings with vegetable and meat ingredients in a flour wrapper.
We usually eat it with "PONZU" sauce in Japan.
"Hamamatsu" in Shizuoka prefecture and "Utsunomiya" in Tochigi prefecture are famous for gyoza.
In my channel, I'm going to make Japanese cuisine by using Japanese Dashi.
I wanna express the Japanese aesthetic senses through my youtube video.

Our goal with these videos is to show you how fun and easy Asian vegan cooking can be, but every now and then creativity hits and we come up with something that even impresses us. These Jasmine Flower Gyoza are the prettiest dish to come out of our kitchen since we launched the channel, plus they taste amazing and they’re way easier to make than you might think. Make them for a dinner party at your house or bring them to a potluck, either way you’ll impress everyone.
Ingredients
1 Bunch Shiritaki Noodles (buy them here http://amzn.to/2znwWMi)
1 Small Package Shimeji Mushroom (buy them here http://amzn.to/2zo3Ydh)
24 Gyoza Wrappers (but them here http://amzn.to/2zlOwyf)
1 block fried tofu
Sesame Oil (http://amzn.to/2ybrMiW)
1 Small Package Shiitaki Mushroom Sauce (buy it here http://amzn.to/2ApjLbK)
Thai Basil (buy it here http://amzn.to/2yb5NZk)
Thai chillies (depends on your tongue, go slowly at first and then go crazy when you’re ready)
Ready To Start Cooking?
1. Grab the tofu, shirataki noodles, mushrooms and chop them up into small (very small) pieces). Then season them with sesame oil, soy sauce and mix together.
2. Use a fork to mush everything together, get it nice and soft. Then add in finely chopped Thai basil.
3. Your filling is ready, take a taste and season it a bit more if you want. There’s no right or wrong way with this, just depends on what you like and what you’re used to. Be creative.
4. Place the gyoza wrappers on a cutting board, 4 in a row. Use water to join them together and then use a spoon to portion out the filling.
Fold the gyoza up and in half.
5. Slowly roll the gyoza up into the flower shape like in the video.
Place 1 cm of water in a pan and place the finished gyoza in it. Close the lid and steam until the water is gone. Then use sesame oil to lightly pan fry until crispy.
6. If you don’t like spicy food you can eat them like this, they’re killer already. We like to add a bit of Thai kick to ours though. Take the jasmine flowers (or any green veggie you can find) and stir-fry them with Thail basil and Thai chillies. Then pour all that goodness over the gyoza. Yum.

Perfect for those who want to eat both Yakiniku and Gyoza ;) One of my Easy Lifesaver recipe!!!
I used "Yakiniku no Tare (焼肉のたれ)", which is a sweet and tasty soy sauce based Japanese barbecue sauce for Yakiniku (grilled meat), to season the gyoza filling. In this way, you can make tasty gyoza (dumplings) in a second ;D
Simple yet delicious! You can't stop eating them XD
---------------------------------
Yakiniku Gyoza
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 20min
Number of servings: 18 pieces
Ingredients:
A
* 140g (5oz.) ground beef and pork mixture
* 2 tbsp. Panko (bread crumbs)
* 2 tbsp. chopped long onion
* 3 tbsp. Ebara Ougon No Aji Chu Kara (Ebara Yakiniku Sauce Medium Hot) : you can use any kind of Japanese Yakiniku Sauce
18 Gyoza wrappers
cooking oil
lemon wedge (makes the Gyoza tasty!)
Directions:
1. Put A in a bowl and mix well by hand (hand is better but using a spoon is okay) until all ingredients are combined and the mixture is smooth.
2. Lay a Gyoza wrapper in your palm and place a spoonful of filling in the center. Put water along the edge of the wrapper with your fingers, fold in half, make small folds in the front side of the wrapper and seal.
3. Heat cooking oil in a frying pan, put the Gyoza in, and cook on high until the bottoms become brown.
4. Turn down to medium, add water about 1/3 of the height of Gyoza, cover, and steam on med-high until done. Uncover and cook on high until the water is gone and the bottoms are crisp.
5. Serve with a lemon wedge.
Of course, it goes great with white rice! Perfect for Bento lunch box, too!
