"A number of years ago, I wrote in with my praise report about conceiving after partaking of the holy Communion and declaring our supernatural conception of a baby. The following year, I gave birth to my son, Judah.
Four years later, this same promised son was diagnosed with autism. I felt my world fall apart as I coped with a child who was mute, who didn’t understand simple tasks, and who never called his father or me “Daddy” or “Mommy.” It was like living with a stranger.
I remember praying with my husband on the way to the doctor’s office the day we got the diagnosis. I remember how lost and confused I felt when we were told Judah had autism. And I remember the Spirit encouraging me not to accept the negative report.
Judah had been enrolled in a private school but the school discharged him when they could not cater to his needs. When that happened, I felt so alone even though I had my husband.
When Judah was about four, I searched Pastor Joseph Prince online and watched his sermon, “As Jesus Is, So Are You.” As I watched, my faith grew. However, I still felt like Peter looking at the storm around me as I saw my son not speaking and displaying behavior I didn’t understand.
I went to the Joseph Prince Ministries website and read a praise report about a little boy who had autism and showed major improvements after his mother proclaimed 1 John 4:17 over him. I began to pray and proclaim the same word over Judah as well. I also asked him to proclaim it but all I heard was some murmuring. But because of the word I heard, I didn’t lose faith and kept proclaiming 1 John 4:17 over him.
In that same year, Judah started speaking. He called us “Mommy” and “Daddy” before he turned five. Today Judah is excelling in school! Every night before he goes to bed, he prays, “As Jesus is, so am I in this world,” with clarity. Our God is a good and faithful God. All glory and praise be unto You, O Lord my God!
I want to encourage everyone to never give up on God because He never gives up on our situations."

*Congratulations to Lim Lim for being picked as the winner! Thanks to everyone who joined and stay tuned for more giveaways!*
{Book Giveaway} No matter how busy life gets, we always make time for bedtime reading. Yup, while the sisters can now read on their own or sometimes have no time to because of homework, this boy still likes stories and we make sure we keep up with this good habit. So even if I have to lay the baby down, carry him on my lap or pass him to the girls, we make it a point to read together every night.
It's been a while since we added a new book to our library so we are stoked to receive this from one of our favourite local authors, Emily Lim-Leh. Little Mimic's Superpower is the third book in the series, following Little Godwit Finds his Wings and Little Mole's Awesome Star. It is a story that celebrates uniqueness and encourages us to discover the different special qualities and talents in each of us.
For the younger ones, they are interested to learn more about the mimic octopus, a true master of disguise, and we love how each of the books in this series is inspired by a real animal and actual happenings. Swipe to see more of the colourful illustration and learn more about the characteristics of the mimic octopus.
Even my eldest girl said she likes this story as it celebrates individuality and reminds us that we all have our very own extraordinary strengths and gifts - even if we don't know what they are yet at this point in time. We just need to keep believing, keep exploring and keep learning.
Good news! I am now giving away two copies of this book to you so you can read to and encourage your kid too! To join,

Asher learns to ride a bike!
This is the 4yo who still whines when he goes to school and clings onto me, is learning to write his Chinese name, can barely read a few words, cries easily and is still like a baby in many ways even though we tell him he is a big boy now already. So he definitely surprised me that morning.
Remember how the kids and I lugged our new bicycle from Decathlon onto the train all the way home? Yup, it was all worthwhile because guess what, this boy learnt to cycle in just 30min! He was a little apprehensive at the start because he couldn't control the handlebar and there were the inevitable mistakes where he rammed into the wall, knocked over a bench and fell into a bush. Yup, not everything was captured on camera (thanks to the little sister for helping us to take these clips!) but you do know that behind every success lies hardwork, effort and persistence. So glad that he managed to persevere, pick himself up and be strong enough to keep trying.
Check out his big smiles at the end and how he kept asking to go again and again! I cherish these moments so much and it's funny but I'm always the one teaching the kids to cycle and I have to say this was the shortest record time ever among the three. He learnt to turn in our second session and now he just needs to learn to start pedalling - that will be tricky because the bike is a little too tall for him and he needs to lean over to one side to reach the ground.
For those who were asking for tips, I would say start the kid on a balance bike first (it helps them greatly to balance and steer), find a large, empty area to practise, wear protection gear (at least a helmet and knee pads) to reduce the child's fear of falling, teach them to use the brakes, be patient in supporting and encourage them to keep trying! Some of my favourite phrases are "You can do it!", "I'm here with you", "Control the bike, not let it control you", "Balance, balance, look in front", and "You did awesome!"
P.S. Sharing the only photo we took together that day - Meimei asked us to for keepsake - that shows the unglam me with sweaty armpits. Hahaha. Still, I wouldn't trade that moment for anything.
