每天除了創作還能呼吸新鮮的空氣，
陽光不時從淡綠色葉子的縫隙射出，
我在這邊
聽到最多的聲音是河流水聲跟鳥叫。

這是一部令人感動的音樂記錄片，片中一群快樂的老樂手向世界展示了古巴音樂偉大的根源，令世界掀起古巴音樂熱潮。
這部記錄片是“德州巴黎”，“柏林蒼穹下”的著名導演文德斯拍攝的，源於他的音樂夥伴萊德庫的一次古巴旅行。萊德庫在旅行中發現了當地一支樂隊背後感人的故事，在他的力勸下，文溫德斯在1988年率領攝影組來到古巴，開始了這次著名的拍攝。
他用記實的手法拍下了這部電影，於是，早被人遺忘及冷落的這群古巴藝人，隨著電影的熱賣及專輯CD的出版，重新被人提起。世人彷彿自睡眠中甦醒，再次看見，聽見古巴，了解了古巴音樂動人的魅力。
這群古巴老樂士用音樂跨越了政治的藩籬，破例獲邀進入紐約的卡內基音樂廳演奏。演奏完畢，與會者一致起立鼓掌，讓這些老樂士們感動流淚。事後當他們在美國想打電話回古巴報喜，卻怎樣都打不通，原來兩國無邦交......
他們的純真，可愛，都被文德斯生動捕捉。影片一經問世，受到絕大多數人的肯定，尤其在國際大小影展上共獲得13座最佳記錄片獎，包括歐洲影展，金球獎，美國國家影評人協會，紐約，洛杉磯影評人協會，西雅圖，入圍奧斯卡最佳記錄片等，是近年來國際知名度很高的一部音樂片。
