邊做早餐邊聽 podcast 是個抒壓的 morning ritual。今天聽的是在 3D 英文筆記術裡有推薦的 WorkLife with Adam Grant。昨天在 D-card 上看到有人在討論我的直播。有個人說看完直播很心動（想必學到不少)，但還是想問問是不是只是很會做行銷而已。
我想學賈永婕說 Hello??????
覺得學到很多後還要再三確認？一則可能是你受過買線上課受過傷（這我不怪你 😂)，一則是我又在台灣碰到了 “racial discrimination.” (但我皮膚相當白、可能真的要假裝不會說中文？)
台灣的英文老師們，也請一起加加油，要記得不斷進修、講義要更新、教學法更是。不要只是一個頂大外文、英語系畢業就停滯不前了（那只是你英文不錯，跟會教是兩件事)。讓學生們知道他們跟我們學比跟native speakers of English 可以進步得更快，這才是終結這一切的根本。
母語者比較不會用英文溝通?

Picture this: A group of nonnative English speakers is in a room. There are people from Germany, Singapore, South Korea, Nigeria and France. They're having a great time speaking to each other in English, and communication is smooth.

And then an American walks into the room. The American speaks quickly, using esoteric jargon ("let's take a holistic approach") and sports idioms ("you hit it out of the park!"). And the conversation trickles to a halt.

*hit/knock the ball out of the park 字面上的意思是「把球打出棒球場」，慣用語的意思則是「某事做的非常好，令人驚艷」。
結果，有個美國人走進房間。這位美國人說話很快，使用少數人才懂的的術語（「讓我們採用整全的方式」）以及與體育相關的成語（「你把球打出了公園！*」）。整場談話遂逐漸停止。

Decades of research shows that when a native English speaker enters a conversation among nonnative speakers, understanding goes down. Global communication specialist Heather Hansen tells us that's because the native speaker doesn't know how to do what nonnative speakers do naturally: speak in ways that are accessible to everyone, using simple words and phrases.

A balance needs to be struck. There is also a clear difference between helping students improve their English in a classroom and being overly judgmental in a business meeting (or on the Internet ><).
就我個人而言，我認為在這種情況下需探求一個平衡點。在課堂上幫助他人提高英語能力，以及在國際商務會議（或網路上）中過於苛刻，這兩者顯然有極大的區別。
However, if the goal is to communicate effectively with an international audience, native speakers could be more accommodating. At least, that's the view taken by the articles below.
但以下文章認為，若母語者的目標是有效地溝通，那麼在以英語與國際聽眾交流時，母語者應表現得更加隨和。

Daily advice for HK immigrants to the West:
Regarding parenting, you’ll want to have to balance your culture and the host culture. One way for many parents to retain their culture with their children is conversation at home. Many parents choose to speak Cantonese at home. That’s a great approach. Obviously your kids will grow up among English speakers, and they’ll enjoy speaking English even at home. Don’t discourage them from speaking English. It’s pointless. As long as they can hear the Cantonese, it’s good enough. They’ll pick it back up on their own choosing. There’re many worse things in life than losing their native tongue. Most of them won't completely lose it, and quite often, they'll get it right back. Don't sweat the small stuff.
我已經住在台灣6年了，因為在家裡我都是跟我老公說中文，或是討論有關台灣的事情，所以我覺得自己算是一個蠻了解台灣的外國人。但是我一直都沒有機會去跟其他國家的人交流，了解他們是不是也都知道台灣。所以這一次剛好有機會利用一個線上英文教學平台，去找到一些當地的英文老師，問問他們是不是真的認識台灣？

How to Change Language in Genshin Impact
In Genshin Impact there are two different language settings: game language and voice-over language. These have been split into two discrete selections. That way if you’d prefer to hear the voice acting in Japanese, but still want everything to be typed in English so you can read it, this is how you do so!
to open the side menu. Then click on the gear symbol
you can navigate all the way down to Language
you will be able to adjust your language and voice-over settings however you so desire.
On the other hand, as non-native speakers, the Japanese voice-acting sounds pretty much indistinguishable from a basic anime.
Genshin Impact supports many different game languages to choose from. To start with, these include Dutch, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, and more. The voice-over selection is quite a lot more limited, however. Right now the game only supports English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Still, that’s a good deal of options compared to most games these days, which often don’t come with selections at all. Or if they do, it’s only the text that changes.
