The more I know about music, the more I know I need to be humble. There are too many great musicians out there - instrumental virtuosos who can play the fastest and most intricate licks, composers who can touch your heart with their melodies, jazz improvisers who push the boundaries of harmonic and rhythmic structures, arrangers who know how to dress a tune in the many different styles, opera singers who make you believe that there are really voices of God and Evil, crooners who sing like the most sentimental wine that ages, divas who scat like there is no tomorrow, rockers who can belt out the most raucous dissent, folk and country artists who can tell you the most human and mundane stories that matter, blues maestros who can tell you all about toils and snares with 1,4, and 5, and gospel choirs who deliver divine messages from Heaven...

Without humility, there is no space for appreciating all these beauties in the world. Without an open heart that appreciates, there is no room for improvement. Without improvement, there is no new innovations. Without innovation... well, I guess it’s ok for a lot of people, but to me, that’s just boring... lol
