Back from my digital detox day off🥰 I love my off day from the digital world. To disconnect from smartphone and social media is refreshing. 💙
I used to not have any social media platforms when most of the people I know have them and for me, to mind with just 1 world is a lot easier.
I started my social media platforms because of my writing and photography journey, I want to share my writings and art, and perhaps aspire, inspire and help people along the way. It's my workspace, besides opportunities, there are challenges and time off is needed to re-energise.
There are advantages and disadvantages to the digital world, just like the real world. For the digital world, you just have to know when to switch on and off and to focus and work on the advantages. Most importantly, know that your real life should be your main priority no matter what.
Countless studies showed strong correlations between social media usage and depression and anxiety which may affect your mental health. Dependence on digital devices may also change the way our brains operate for the worse.
That's why digital detox is crucial. Many benefits you can reap from practising digital detox. It helps you to reduce screen time, reduce stress and anxiety, be more personable, build relationships, stop comparing yourself to others, change the way you seek validation, better mental health and physical health, better sleep, posture, hormonal and cellular health, be more engaged with real-world activities and so much more!
So how you can start to digital detox? Create a schedule that works for you and follow it. Establish a device-free space or just put your smartphone aside or out of sight. Work on yourself and pick up a new skill or hobby. Focus on building a relationship with yourself and the people who matter.
It's important to do it at your own pace. Digital detoxing can make you feel more refreshed and live a better and positive life. Pick a time for you to step away from your phone screen and appreciate what you have in front of you - other than the tech devices.
It's time for us to reconnect more with people and the real world. Together we improve our overall wellbeing. 💪

This past year’s global situation has allowed me to fully revisit the tennis world and coach regularly again.
It has been a decade since I have worked with such an expansive pool of students. At the time, I taught and trained both children and adults ranging from the ages of 5-60, levels ranging from novice to advanced, but mostly children and teenagers.
However, a couple of years ago I did take a hiatus from showbiz and acting in China as I had the opportunity to work and travel with a professional tennis player. It was a very rewarding, yet challenging experience, to say the least.
Many people have asked me why I do not just coach and train players completely full time. I usually just smile and and brush it off with a tactful “I don’t know.”
The truth is, I have had an extreme love-hate relationship with the game.
Growing up, the time spent on court not only acted as a healthy environment where I can progress as a player and a person, but it also acted as an escape from the difficult emotional and psychological roller coaster on the home front (I will not go into this now).
Looking back, I am so grateful to have been surrounded by coaches, from places such as India and Eastern Europe, whom understood the value of teaching and mentoring with a “school of hard knocks’ approach. They continuously reminded me that:
“There will always be people in situations worse off than you. Back home, players were playing on courts made from cow dung and with holes in their shoes, not to mention wondering when their next full meal would be.”
Though I don’t think I can honestly say that I fully understood them at the time, but these reminders and perspectives acted as the rock that kept me from drifting away.
So, this is where I am coming from in terms of my relationship with tennis. 2020 has been a blessing in disguise, as I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people, both on and off the court.
Thanks to all my students. I hope you are learning as much as I am learning from you. Cheers.

横山さん、今回もありがとうございました!☆彡
Today I finally had another chance to collaborate with neighborhood musician Makito Yokoyama (acoustic guitar) in my English version of the song "Mirai Yosouzu II" by the popular Japanese pop group Dreams Come True. This song, originally released in 1989, is well known in Japan. It is about reflecting on a happy relationship and how it has grown through the years and will continue to do so, and it is often used at weddings. I hope you enjoy my English version!

Another winter melts away
Three springs now since graduation time
And you’re still here today, standing next to me
Smiling the same bright smile
Remember your old motorbike
How you would take me home after class ended
I watch the starry sky from on the roof as I
Am driving down that road in my mind
Every night after you said goodbye
I would watch ‘til you turned the corner, waving goodnight
And every time you would flash your lights at me
On and off in sets of three
That was our sign for “I - love - you”
Even if a million years should come and go
I’ll never change the way I feel about you, dear
I will stay so happy every day
As long as I have you here
Can you see? The future we had mapped out
In our hearts is all turning out
Just like we hoped it would, we knew that it could
And it gets better with time
Sometimes when it’s the two of us
We open up our book of memories
We see the photographs and we can’t help but laugh
At how wild we used to be
We marvel at how long it’s been
Since we got together back in the beginning
Enjoying the day, wasting it away
As long as I’m with you, it’s okay
Every time we took your bike for a ride
We would bump our helmets together three times
Though the way we express it might have changed
How we feel remains the same
We still love each other honestly
きっと何年たっても こうしてかわらぬ思いを
