And finally, after singing so many songs about you since I was a kid, we meet.

It’s been pretty surreal finally being here in UK. Back when I finished highschool, it was a very conscious choice to NOT pursue my studies overseas so that my siblings had money for their education. I saw my friends leave one by one to this great place called the UK as they started sharing pictures of their amazing campuses, sceneries and new lives. I remember feeling “well, I guess I gotta make do with what I have here”.

And that’s when it hit me as I looked at the bridge.
.
My friends had to pick subjects and degrees that put them down a road in life which they might not even like but HAD to do. In a place where they forked out heaps of cash to be able to do it. And me? Today I’m here because someone (like @youtube what!!!!) saw something in us and wanted us to be here. To do something they deem we are good at and to enhance it further. And we didn’t have to fight for scholarships or pay a penny.

It felt like a taste of everything I thought I missed studying overseas. It felt so inspiring having superbly skilled mentors. It felt so warm being around like minded peers with amazing hearts. It felt like being a kid again riding double decker busses and seeing London for the first time.

And at the end of the day when I was walking back from classes, it felt like I got that chance I thought I missed when I finished highschool. And I couldn’t have smiled to myself anymore than I did.

So don’t worry about missed chances fam. Keep doing you. And do it well. And who knows? Maybe one day you’ll see all the pretty buildings, breathe in the cool air and eat all the fish and chips you want too.

P.S. Fun fact - this is actually the TOWER bridge. The “original” London Bridge is.. well... not this. 🤣
