妊娠嘔吐紓緩有法
女生如果出現作嘔作悶徵狀,很快就令人聯想到懷孕,妊娠嘔吐是懷孕初期常見症狀之一,又稱為「害喜」,中醫稱之為「惡阻」,是因為懷孕後胃失和降所致,除了會有胸悶不舒、噁心嘔吐、頭重目眩的情況,聞到特定氣味會出現反感,甚至進食某些食物會嘔吐。如果本身脾胃虛弱或偏痰濕或濕熱都較容易出現害喜情況,一般輕微孕吐不影響胎兒,適量食用陳皮或薑製品等止嘔食材就可紓緩症狀。如果情況嚴重,例如完全無法進食、出現脫水情況就需求醫治理。
紓緩妊娠嘔吐飲食小貼士:
1. 進食屬性平和的食物,少吃多餐
2. 嘔吐後補充水份或飲用米水
3. 不宜進補,宜健脾胃
4. 避免進食肥膩或生冷食物
5. 隨身帶備陳皮或薑製品等止嘔食材
DIY止嘔米水:
材料:紫蘇葉9克、酸柑2枚、大肚婆米水粉1包、冰糖適量
做法:將材料洗淨,酸柑切片、紫蘇葉剪成絲,保溫瓶內加入熱水,然後倒入米水粉及其他材料,焗約15-20分鐘即可。
*米水容易變壞,建議一天內飲用,不要過夜。

Tips to relieve morning sickness
Whenever a woman feels nauseated, we would automatically think of pregnancy. Morning sickness is one of the common symptoms during the first trimester of pregnancy. To Chinese physicians, morning sickness is caused by an imbalance in the stomach, and it is pernicious in nature. Besides experiencing chest discomfort, dizziness, and feeling nauseous, some would find certain smells disgusting and vomit after eating certain food.
Individuals with weak spleen and stomach or those with a phlegm-dampness or damp heat body constitution would develop morning sickness more easily. Mild vomiting during pregnancy would not affect the fetus. Do consume some dried orange peels and ginger products to relieve the condition. If morning sickness persists and severely affects the appetite or causes dehydration, pregnant mothers should consult doctors for medical advice.
Tips on food that can help relieve morning sickness:
1. Consume mild-natured foods, have more frequent meals and eat less during each meal
2. Be sure to hydrate after vomiting with water or rice water
3. Avoid nourishing the body inappropriately, it is suitable to strengthen the spleen and stomach
4. Avoid oily, raw and cold foods
5. Moderately consume anti-nausea food such as dried orange peel or ginger-products
DIY anti-nausea rice water:
Ingredients: 9g purple perilla tea leaves, 2 calamansi, 1 pack pregnant rice water powder, rock sugar to taste
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Slice the calamansi into pieces. Shred the purple perilla tea leaves. Add hot water into the thermos and add all the ingredients. Steep for 15-20 minutes and ready to serve.
*Rice water should be made fresh daily and should not be stored overnight as it may spoil easily.

{IG Giveaway} Even though I try my best to cook our meals when we are home, there are just some days that I feel like grabbing takeaways or wish that there was a way I could whip up a quick and preferably healthy lunch with minimal effort.
Thanks to @fusspot_and_foodie, we had a picnic in the comfort of our home and the best thing is while these ready made snacks and finger food are easy to prepare - you just need to thaw and reheat - they are also packed with fresh vegetables, fruits, legumes and made using whole grains and super-foods. That is good news for mums, right?
We tried the Baked Chicken Tenders, Sweet Potato and Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Pirate Jimmy's Fish Patties, Spinach Pesto Mini Pizzas and Blackbean Brownies. See my stories for more. All the food was served and ready to eat in 30min, yay! Easy peasy.
What I was most amazed and pleasantly surprised to see was that the kids loved most of these healthy food, especially the pizza and pancakes which got their big thumbs up.
Unlike the food we eat when we are out (which honestly makes me feel guilty at times because so salty you know), these do not artificial preservatives, flavorings, food colour or refined sugar. Sounds pretty wholesome to me.
I never thought nutritious food could taste so good and be so welcomed by them, so it was a great thing to discover and I am quite sure we will stock more of these items in our freezer. It's always good to be prepared for a rainy day, right?

Meal prep. Lately i have been eating a lot of junk foods. So today i decide to do a meal prep.
Meal prep is cooking a bunch of foods at one time. So that you have healthy foods prepared and ready to eat at all time. A lot of bodybuilders do this.
Just pop it in the microwave and reheat your food and you are all set.
I'm doing this becus i want to have healthier food ready to eat. Not trying to lose weight or go on a diet. Just want to get back to the habit of eating abit heathier.
The ingredients cost about $25 SGD. The containers cost $10.50SGD. For a week of foods i think it's pretty cheap.

For the next 28 days, I want you to:
1) Include at least 2 servings of soups everyday. You can either have it for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
2) Choose only low-calorie vegetable or broth based soupS. For instance chunky vegetables, pureed vegetables, clear chicken or beef broth.
3) Avoid cream-based soups especially those loaded with heavy cream, cheese and pasta.
4) Avoid instant can or powdered soup. Those soups tend to be high in calories, fat and sodium, which defeats the whole purpose of adding soups into your diet.
5) If possible, go for homemade soups. If you want to use ready soup stocks for convenience, then opt for the low sodium or low fat variety.

Here are 10 reasons why you should include soups into your diet:
1) It’s very nutritious
You’re basically getting a good balance of protein, carbs and healthy fat all in one bowl. This gives you energy and keep you going for the entire day!
2) You feel full quicker and longer
The combination of water and solids in soup fills you up quicker and longer because it expands the stomach.
3) Reduce total caloric intake
Because soup can fill you up for very few calories, eating soup on a daily basis means that you’re more likely to eat less, crave less, which can help to further reduce your total daily calorie intake and lead to weight loss or to maintain a healthy weight.

The basis of soup is basically water. So eating soup will contribute to your daily water intake and keep you hydrated.
5) Meet your 5-a-day

The high water content of the vegetables in soup promotes healthy digestion by flushing out toxins in the body. If you suffer from water retention, bloating or constipation, try adding soups into your diet.
7) It’s easy!
Anybody can whip up a good bowl of soup. Even if you can’t cook, it’s almost impossible to mess up. It’s a one-pot dish, you can keep adding more of something into the pot until it turns out fine.
8) You can make-ahead
Whether chilled or warm soups, you can make-ahead in large batches. Keep them chilled in the fridge, or freeze them up and reheat when ready to eat. They’ll last for many weeks and it’s so convenient.
9) It’s affordable
Vegetables, broths and water are cheap. You can easily cook a large pot of soup at a very low cost to feed the entire family to keep them full and healthy!
10) It’s comforting
No matter what cultural background you’re from, a bowl of soup is ALWAYS comforting. It is also very nourishing, restorative, light and very easily digested, especially when we’re ill.
