Brrr.. the cooling weather got us craving for some hotpot.

4 cloves garlic
1½ tsp minced ginger
2 packet spicy mala hot pot soup base
1.5 litre of water
220g Konnyaku (cut into bite size pieces)
90g Japanese vermicelli
1 packet Dodo salmon seafood ball
1 packet Dodo fish maw seafood ball
1 packet Dodo mushroom seafood ball
1 packet Dodo cheesy cuttlefish seafood ball
1 packet Dodo prawn seafood ball
1 packet Dodo signature fresh fish balls
8 pieces shiitake mushrooms
1 piece lotus root (sliced)
1 whole carrots (cut into bite size pieces)
1 pack Seafood paste with scrapers (Tobiko prawn, Mushroom chicken, Fish maw)
1 packet Dodo snow crab leg
8 pieces of fresh prawns
1 pack of tofu
150g bok choy
1 stalk of leek (sliced)
300g pork belly slices

Frozen ingredients or ready to eat meals are all on the rage these days and I’m not shying away from them as they help to make life easier when under time constraints.

Hope you are excited about the upcoming Chinese New Year as much as we are! Today we will be sharing with you a Staple, Must-Have recipe this CNY, Mala & Tomato Soup Bases. Hotpot is the easiest and fuss-free thing to prepare and the most vital part of this dish will definitely be the Soup Bases.
These 2 soup bases are fairly easy to prepare and the best part is you can make a big batch of the pastes and store it! This way, you can enjoy freshly made soup bases through CNY!
All the spices can be found easily in the supermarket, if not the chinese herb store. We used normal chillis instead of the szechuan ones and it WORKS! However, the Chilli Flakes are crucial in creating the fragrance of the Mala Soup base. The most ideal ones are definitely the SzeChuan Chilli Flakes followed by Korean Chilli Flakes.
