Double Champ in Carrera Vertical Torre Laguna and 6km run + 28F Vertical Run.
Initially my plan is to only take part in Carrera Vertical Torre Laguna, a 28 floors run up the tallest building in El Ejido (Torre Laguna).
The race started at 5.30pm in the evening. The sunset here is at around 9.30pm. My flag off time is at 7.29pm. There's a minute gap between each and I started quite late in the end, but it was a good sprint race! We had a 200m pre run then followed by a 28 floors, 547 steps. The course record is 2:42 min.
My goal is to do my best and see if I can crush the record. First 200m took me a 33 seconds, running from the main entrance of the building at ground floor towards the basement and went into the stairs. The next 28 floors took me 2:15 minutes. Ended up with a time of 2:49 minutes (missed the record by 7 seconds). 2:42 is really fast!
Then after I finished my race, there's another category going to start at 8pm (6km run + 28 floors). I went down at 7.40pm and I made a request to the organizer if I am allow to join. I knew I still have something left in the tank, and also wish to run alongside with Spain Runner as I know they are strong runners.
Organizer gave me a green light and I got a new bib with a new name Antonio. So continue for a cool down or maybe 'warm up' for the race at 8pm.
Started off the first km together with one of the runner. We clocked 3:09 min. Then I made a surge and pull the gap away and lead the race. Clocked a 2:55 min for the 850m. We need to run 3 loops of the road (1.85km) according to my Garmin FR 645.
Then I got a side stitch on my right, the pace dropped to 3:37 min for the next km and 3:10 min for the 860m. The second runner came and we ran side by side.
We both got side stitch actually as his face expression told me that. So then I went off after first km for the third lap. 3:31 min and followed by a 3:07 for 860m.
Back to the starting line and ran the first 200m for 43 seconds this time and shoot up the 28 floors. It took me 2:57 min for the 28 floors after the 5.7km run.
Well done to the organizer for doing a great job! Running in a completely sealed road! Felt really great!
Muchas gracias! @ Edificio Torre Laguna
