Can you guess the price of this food, and do you think it's worth it? I am soon reviewing Watercolors Boracay 2 sets of pasta, as promised from previous video.
I am excited for my first episode of #BoracayFoodWars. The main goal of this is to help the tourists in Boracay to find the best places to eat through my personal and honest reviews.
When it comes to reviewing foods, or services, or products, the credibility and integrity of the person reviewing those, matter. And this is why, I pay for the food, products, and services I review for.
It is very important to me that my judgement will not be affected by the following factors:
1. How bad is the attitude of the people running the business. It is the service that I consider.
2. I do not allow friendship or relationships to affect how I review these things.
3. When people tell me how bad their foods are, I just do not take their words, I dine in and experience it for myself.
As a super-taster (based on my DNA test results), I can distinguish a lot of tastes compared to non-super tasters.
I meet a few restaurant managers who wanted their foods reviewed, and I politely declined when they decided what to do. I manage and control my craft, no one else.
I also understand that getting enemies is normal when it comes to doing so. But I am hoping, in the Philippines, Boracay specifically, people are to take criticisms well, as I do constructive criticism. In Singapore, when people give honest reviews, they taste their food and change if necessary, not retaliate to people who review it. They became my Gold Standard and I believe we can be better.
So you can trust, when coming to my socials, and you see my reviews, it's genuine and constructive. I am a Videographer by profession now and I receive cancellations because of what I do. But I decided to keep going and do what I love to do. The tourists of Boracay Island deserve to have the best experience. In a long run, it will be the island and its people who will benefit from constantly improving. We already experienced what's it is like to be affected by the unknown. Let us not wait for another pandemic to get better. It is not always about the money, it is the experience we give to ourselves and to others, in our lifetime.
If you are a business owner (restaurant and hotel), and if you wish to get reviewed, simply send me a message here and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
XoXo,
Your Boracay Insider

It took me a while to create a post about Kolai Mangyan Boracay because I made a mistake recommending a Filipino restaurant before. For my 3 months stay in Boracay, now I can finally say that it is a place to be when it comes to enjoying Filipino cuisine. Not only do they represent the culture, but they are also my restaurant to go to because of the following reasons:
1. The kitchen is open. This means they are confident enough to show to the customers that what they prepare for us, are clean and fresh.
2. Affordability. We all can splurge once in a while, but why spend double on food when you can get it half the price with better taste?
3. Location. They have two locations in Boracay. My favourite is at Station 1 near Paraw. It's modern and I love the staff there.
4. Taste. They do not market their food as if it's so special but when you taste it, it's all but Magic Sarap. Kolai Mangyan's foods are delicious which I could not believe at first.
I have been ordering Bulasing which is a fusion which name is not just invented for the sake of inventing, but it is truly a great combination of Bulalo and Sinigang.
Head over to their Facebook Page to understand how you can order and deliver it to your place.
This is not a paid post so you can trust my reviews are fair and honest.

We survived 2020!
This year was a nightmare for me. I felt left out, I felt pain, lonely, and lost at times. 😢
But because of 2020, I learned to care for people I’ve never met, I got to spend so much time with my family and I learned most about myself, more than I ever freaking could have. 🤔Many things happened this year, and there is a handful that I thought would deserve to be reposted so I could look back at it if there are decisions that I would reconsider upon reflection, or memories that I ought to remind myself. 😇
1. Titoudao: Our drama series named as the top 5 best Asian TV shows by @nmemagazine, was initially aired on Mediacorp @mediacorpch5 received such good reviews that it was redubbed and aired on @ch8sg. Congratulations team @theoak3films.
2. 时间的礼物:My Mandarin short film (Gift of Time) was featured at the opening ceremony of ChinaFilmTVFestival at KLCC Plenary Hall - WooHoo Pictures
3. Got to experience marshalling at the Hong Kong High Court
4. Got the opportunity to meet so many of you and gave speeches at universities and TEDx @tedx_official @tedxutm_
5. Started a little food bank with @joey_leong @emilyzying @paulinetls for families who got hit particularly hard by COVID
6. Worked with @nuyousingapore for my first SG magazine cover @terencewhatever
7. A new addition to my animal family - saved a handicapped baby mynah and got a license to keep him
8. Worked with new brands that I grew up loving @rado @sonymalaysia @puma @clarinsmalaysia @dysonhair etc...
9. Learned more about sustainable fashion and built a small community for girls with a taste for petite fashion
10. Tried out voice acting for the first time for a radio drama by @aifm.malaysia @xiaohan.wong
11. Maintained a long distance relationship throughout the chaos @wingsxp (thanks for keeping me grounded) ♡
Giving myself a pat on the back for ending this year with a good story to tell.
🎉🍾🎊
Takeaway: This year is a year of uncertainty. It’s miserable, different — but not bleak. Share a story with me down in the comments below, whether it’s standing in the rain or spending too much time in the toilet. 😂
I’ll pin my favourite. 😘

I stumbled upon this fancy restaurant, Dos Mestizos which you can locate at the Main road, Station 1. Across Seawind Resort.
I was fascinated with how they seem to always get people to dine in and have drinks. On May 12, 2021, I visited the place and dined in and it was not a pleasant experience as I expected.
I am DJ Macky Suson, and I have been here in Boracay for two weeks. After living in Singapore for 10 years and suffered from mental health disorders, I chose Boracay as my place to recover. I have decided to review the places I go to, to help this beloved island improve on things it offers- food, a place to stay, drinks, activities, price and most importantly, the service.
I was greeted by the owner, if I am not mistaken with warm welcome which I expected as I always see him at the place talking to people. Dos Mestizo’s signature ‘Mestizo’ is traditional Spanish dishes elevated by complementing Filipino flavors and other carefully selected ingredients imported from Europe. The menu was not that comprehensive and all I could see was Paella. And so I thought, that’s probably what they are pushing and that’s their best selling food. I ordered a glass fresh pineapple juice, PAELLA VALENCIANA, small. The price was roughly 30 Singapore Dollars and I was expecting for it to be really good.
There was a complimentary bread that’s served and I actually loved it, specially the sauce. After finishing it, I thought, the paella could be better. It was not the case.
In Barcelona, they have a fast food for paella and most locals there said it’s bad. The truth is, my paella experience at that fast food in Barcelona was a lot way better than in Dos Meztisos.
PAELLA VALENCIANA looked great. I wish it tasted great but it was not the case. It was really dry to begin with. The rice seemed to be hit by El Niño as it was as dry as the season. The overall taste was okay. I mean for 30 Singapore Dollars, it’s unacceptable. The serving was good for 1 adult and one kid. The nightmare happened when I ate a portion of meat which tasted rotten. It seemed like it was placed in the fridge for months and they did not notice. It destroyed the entire experience. But at that time, I wanted to throw up but I could not because the owner was literally in front of me and so with other 3 guests.
This place is probably great for drinking but for food, I would not recommend for people to come here. I am happy I did not have food poisoning.
Next: I went to Ambassador in Paradise and tried their Night in Ambassador Cocktail. Was it great? Follow for the review. "Boracay Videography Service"
