=================================
1) At times(時々)
=================================
<例文>
At times, I crave a bowl of ramen right before I go to bed.
I consider myself a pretty optimistic person but I worry about my future at times.
He’s usually a nice guy but he’ll say mean things at times.
=================================
2) Across the board(全体的に)
=================================
<例文>
Improvements need to be made across the board.
Our company is planning on cutting budgets across the board.
Stock prices are going up across the board right now.
=================================
3) Look around(周りを見る)
=================================
例えば、財布を失くした友達に「色々見たけど見つからなかったよ」と伝える場合は、「I looked around but I couldn’t find your wallet.」
<例文>
I looked around all over the living room but I couldn’t find your keys.
Let’s look around and see if there is an Italian restaurant around here.
I’ll look around the train station. Maybe you dropped your passport there.
=================================
4) To a certain degree(ある程度は)
=================================
degreeの代わりにextentを使ってto a certain extentと表現したり、to some degreeと表現することもできますが、どちらも同じ意味になります。
<例文>
I agree with what you’re saying to a certain degree.
Stereotypes are not 100 percent accurate but they are true to a certain degree.
Talking to yourself in English is effective to a certain degree. But if you want to become a good English speaker, you have to go out and talk to people.
=================================
5) Portray(描写する)
=================================
<例文>
Why are Asian people always portrayed as doctors in American TV shows?
This documentary portrays him as a greedy person.
How are millennials portrayed in the media in Japan?

Ever wonder why it'll take the average person 900 years of salary to buy an apartment the size of a living room in China?

.
Here comes to our end point of Honeymoon – New York, the city symbolizes freedom. Walking on the Wall Street, the bankers are like jogging and chasing the daylight. We wandered around the city crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. When we were tired, we settled at the nearby Luke's Lobster to buy a lobster subway. Sitting quietly on a bench to look into this busy city, we enjoyed the moment of contrast.
.
My friends are curious on why I chose Mexico and the United States as my honeymoon destination. In fact, that’s because my fantasy with gossip girl watched during middle school, plus Disneyland (I am A loyal fan of Monster University), plus the Mayan civilization. By the way, the prices in New York are really expensive. It reminds me the living standard of Switzerland. Haha 😂. As a poor traveling couple, I have to think twice before buying a drink in convenience stores.
.
PS1. America is a tip based country. It is extremely impolite not to tip. In the hotel we stayed in New York, if we wanted to put our suitcases in the store room, we had to pay Bellboy a dollar tip for each suitcase.
.
PS2. As COVID-19 is still ongoing, everyone should stay safe and maintain social distancing, Hope we can travel soon :)

- The first night of our Odigo trip we had to sleep at Narita airport, which meant staying in their capsule hotel! https://www.odigo.travel/
Capsule hotels were originally meant to be used as super cheap accommodations, however in my (admittedly brief) attempt to search for them, I usually haven't found many cheaper than a regular business hotel. I know cheap capsule hotels are out there, I just don't know where...
This one at the Tokyo Narita airport is called 9 Hours (you can stay for more than nine hours) and is of course the price of a normal business hotel, I assume because it's at the airport. To be fair, everything was very clean and looked new, which is good enough for me. In some cases if you reserve early online you can get the room for 4,900 yen (which is what they advertise at), but walk-ins are 5,900 yen. A lot of reviews say it used to be 3,900 for a reservation, so I guess they raised their prices. It also looks like prices during holiday travel seasons (like Golden Week and Obon) are higher, at 6,900 yen for advance reserving, at least at the time of making this video.
The pods are all right next to each other so if you have quiet, considerate neighbors you should be fine to sleep, but if your neighbors are chatty or snore then you could be in for a rough night. One of my neighbors used their wave noise machine and it was so loud that I'm pretty sure everyone else had to listen to it, too. I had one instance on my side of some girls coming in really late and giggling and talking up and down the row of pods and taking pictures, but after that fortunately everyone was quiet and I wasn't woken up. Jun had some snorers on his side, though.
All in all I feel like capsule hotels are kind of a quintessential Japanese experience so I'm glad I was able to try one out. It kind of felt like I was living in the future. I don't know if I would choose to do it again over a normal hotel room, though? Maybe I'm just too introverted and prefer having my own personal bed and bathroom, especially if it's the same price. (Actually since it was 5900 each for me AND Jun, a normal hotel is way cheaper for the two of us). I enjoyed the experience, though. Would've been funner with a friend on my side!
