Sending in my homework for the Spartan Training Series from the The Movement Playground. I had the added challenge and distraction of a frisky puppy and two monkeys but it was definitely lively!

We are trying our best to keep our MPG community alive and inspired despite no being able to train physically but the Virtual Race we have created is doing a great job of keeping us stronger together!

Below is a summary of what I had to do: (aiming for Super Spartan, which is in between the Sprint level for beginners and Beast for hardcore enthusiasts) This week is about agility and intensity. You can see I was struggling with all the jumping 😅😅😅

Starting off with 3 sets of 15 A-Skips, Lateral A-Skips ad High Knee Sprint

Then it’s 3 sets of Jump Lunge Cycles (8x8), SL Box Jumps (8x8) and Burpee Box Jumps

Finish off with 12 Seated Straight Leg Raises E.M.O.M (every minute on the minute) for 10 minutes.

Distance Challenge: Broad Jump + Reverse QM
15 reps x 5 sets

Today is 1st of May . Labour Day and also the birthday of the most important person in my life . Poor her , non stop working for my family , even on Labour Day ..

Ever since I met her during our teenage years , I knew I met the most beautiful girl in my life . Little I knew she had the most beautiful heart as well .

Many said its lucky to be Lee Chong Wei’s missus . But let me get it straight , it’s due to her that Lee Chong Wei is who he is today . I owe her so much .

She was there for me when I was a nobody . She inspired me to work harder . She carried me during my darkest hours due to illness . And she gave me the two little precious naughty rascals , Kingston and Terrance . Lucky me , isn’t it .

Happy birthday , my lovely Wife . I promise you I won’t leave you so early yet . Let’s grow old together and celebrate many many more birthday of yours .... oh ya , with that two monkeys ... haha. Love you 3000x #loveyou3000times ♥️

今天是劳动节，但妙珠却365天全年无休。

As a parent it’s so important to take time out to be with your partner. Whether it’s a date night, a walk along the beach or if you’re lucky enough to get someone to take the kids for a night or two, a trip away. We spent 3 nights away in Koh Samui at The Ritz-Carlton recently for our 13th anniversary and it wasn’t until we were there that we realized just how overdue something like this was. Our day to day lives are so hectic with work and kids we seldom get time to just enjoy each other, look into each other’s eyes or even simply go to bed and wake up at the same time. We barely get to sleep alone or even together because of our little monkeys. We would never change a thing but a trip away was the perfect way to reconnect and I’m super grateful for the time we had.

Something a little different this time! Got my hands on a preproduction unit of the brand new EOS R5 for a day and decided to take it to the zoo to test out the 8K and IBIS. Shot 8K in IBP. Took some photos as well. This is not a technical test by any means but I did want to try and see how practical it would be in a real day shoot. Unfortunately made a mistake of shooting 4k 60p for two shots of the monkeys at the end and had to scale it up :( I have noticed some blotching in some clips, mainly in the shadows and I'm not sure why). Files were difficult to handle without transcoding. However, they were extremely sharp and detailed. No colour grading/correction done, just used a C-Log to Rec 709 lut provided by Canon. Also, I know its only 1080 but YouTube won't allow me to upload in 8k :(.

I was shooting under blazing hot sun and unfortunately, I did get the camera to overheat for a few periods. Once the camera overheats, you'll have to wait awhile and it will allow you to shoot 3/5 min depending on how long it's been cooling. You won't be able to record 8K and 4K once it overheats but taking photos and HD will work fine.

Tested the IBIS with an EF 100-400mm, mostly shooting at 400mm. NO post stabilisation applied to make sure it was fair. Once again, this is a preproduction unit so things might change in the full version.

Would I shoot 8k? No. It took way too long to edit and export. However, the 8k timelapse is a feature I would definitely use. I see this camera very useful for stock footage shooters who might need to shoot long form content but rather short bursts of 8k clips. I'll share a video with my thoughts on the R5 and R6 soon! (PS: for photography, this thing is well worth it!)

DISCLAIMER: I am a Canon Malaysia EOS Youth Ambassador so I am rather biased. I think Canon makes THE Best cameras in the market but that doesn't mean I won't state issues that I find with the cameras.
