Withdraw to Quiet Places to Hear God
There is a reason why the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle is designed to be totally quiet. Once a year, only the high priest can go in there.
Outside, the Holy Place has priests ministering in it, and the outer court is noisy with lots of work going on.
In the Holy of Holies, that’s where God speaks. A still small voice, in a perfectly silent environment.
Throughout each day, find moments to withdraw to quiet places to pray, both in words and in tongues if you can.
Jesus did this often while He was on earth. He withdrew to mountains and hills to be alone and communicate with the God the Father.
For me who is at home with my wife and daughter all day long, the quiet times I have is during shower time and bed time. In between, also times when Mae is playing by herself and I have moments to read and write. Find the quiet times and places that suits you best.
Ask God for wisdom and favor, and listen with your spiritual ears. Wait for Him to show you in your spirit or mind. Don’t expect an audible voice, although He can do that if He chooses.
If He doesn’t speak yet, don’t rush ahead of Him. Continue to pray and wait for confirmation in what you’re asking for. For example, I don’t write anything until He gives me a passage or verse, and the revelation He wants me to share.
It is more difficult to do this when you’re distracted by emotions and the loudness of the world.
“Yahweh came, and stood, and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak; for your servant hears.”” (1 Samuel 3:10 WEB)
Be like Samuel who was attentively expecting to hear God’s voice. When God calls you by name and is ready to speak, be ready to hear!

(Day 14 of #ProverbsHesedWisdomChallenge to read a chapter from the Book of Proverbs each day which corresponds to the date as suggested by Pastor Joseph Prince in 7 Jan 2018’s Vision Sunday sermon -
http://www.miltongoh.net/miltons-blog/the-year-of-hesed-wisdom-vision-sunday-new-creation-church-theme-of-the-year-2018 ):
Believers are kings and priests to God in Christ.
May I be like this king who is fully led by the Lord.
“The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it whichever way He wishes.” (PROVERBS 21:1 AMP)
“and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:6 NKJV)
God doesn’t look at the outward form, but at our intentions.
When we do something good, let it be for pure and right reasons.
You can’t trick or fool God. He knows the truth.
“Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs and examines the hearts [of people and their motives]. To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice [for wrongs repeatedly committed].” (PROVERBS 21:2-3 AMP)
This brings to mind the example of investing.
For a diligent person, he or she will take the time to learn about it, research, understand more, and pray about it before rushing to invest.
He or she may be even willing to lose a bit of money to learn valuable lessons, and will continue to persevere diligently.
Whereas a hasty, impulsive and lazy person will just invest carelessly without knowing or understanding anything and not even bother consulting God first.
Let us choose to be diligent and wise, not hasty and foolish.
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance and advantage, But everyone who acts in haste comes surely to poverty.” (PROVERBS 21:5 AMP)
The opposite is also true: it is a blessing to live in a house with a woman who loves peace and always seeks to establish peace.
“It is better to live in a corner of the housetop [on the flat roof, exposed to the weather] Than in a house shared with a quarrelsome (contentious) woman.
It is better to dwell in a desert land Than with a contentious and troublesome woman.” (PROVERBS 21:9, 19 AMP)
God loves to abundantly bless a generous believer who has a heart for God’s purposes.
We are blessed to be a blessing to others, not so that we can be selfish and self-serving.
“He who loves [only selfish] pleasure will become a poor man; He who loves and is devoted to wine and [olive] oil will not become rich.” (PROVERBS 21:17 AMP)
Wise people save money and spend thriftily.
“There is precious treasure and oil in the house of the wise [who prepare for the future], But a short-sighted and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it.” (PROVERBS 21:20 AMP)
Carefully choose the words that you speak because that can save you from a lot of trouble.
“He who guards his mouth and his tongue Guards himself from troubles.” (PROVERBS 21:23 AMP)
Believers shouldn’t be afraid of hard work. God will sustain you with His grace.
If a work is led by God, He will give you the empowerment needed to complete the work without you being burnt out in the process.
“The desire of the lazy kills him, For his hands refuse to labor; He craves all the day long [and does no work], But the righteous [willingly] gives and does not withhold [what he has].” (PROVERBS 21:25-26 AMP)
Do you want to go unchallenged? Keep listening to the gospel of grace being preached. That is the truth we need to be listening to.
“A false witness will perish, But a man who listens to the truth will speak forever and go unchallenged.” (PROVERBS 21:28 AMP)
God’s wisdom is the best. Don’t seek the world’s wisdom -
Seek for God’s wisdom in His word and by praying and letting Him lead you in your heart.
These two verses also hint about the future battle at Armageddon that will take place where the devil and his human armies will attempt to war against God. They will be utterly defeated.
“There is no [human] wisdom or understanding Or counsel [that can prevail] against the LORD. The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance and victory belong to the LORD.” (PROVERBS 21:30-31 AMP)
“And I saw three loathsome spirits like frogs, leaping from the mouth of the dragon (Satan) and from the mouth of the beast (Antichrist, dictator) and from the mouth of the false prophet; for they are [actually] the spirits of demons, performing [miraculous] signs. And they go out to the kings of the entire inhabited earth, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty. (“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is he who stays awake and who keeps his clothes [that is, stays spiritually ready for the Lord’s return], so that he will not be naked--spiritually unprepared--and men will not see his shame.”) And they (demons) gathered the kings and armies of the world together at the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon (Armageddon).” (REVELATION 16:13-16 AMP)
“He who follows righteousness and mercy Finds life, righteousness, and honor.” (Proverbs 21:21 NKJV)

Takeaways from Proverbs 14
(Day 7 of #ProverbsHesedWisdomChallenge to read a chapter from the Book of Proverbs each day which corresponds to the date as suggested by Pastor Joseph Prince in 7 Jan 2018’s Vision Sunday sermon -
http://www.miltongoh.net/miltons-blog/the-year-of-hesed-wisdom-vision-sunday-new-creation-church-theme-of-the-year-2018 ):
Oxen brings to mind the burnt offering that is offered under the Law.
The sacrificial ox is a shadow of the true substance which is Jesus Himself who was given as our perfect offering on the cross.
What I get from this verse is: when there is no preaching or revelation of Jesus, there is no fruit.
But when we listen to or read messages that exalt Jesus and behold Him, it produces fruitfulness and profits in our lives!
“Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, But much revenue [because of good crops] comes by the strength of the ox.” (PROVERBS 14:4 AMP)
People who are proud and think that they know it all are unable to receive God’s revelations in their hearts.
On the other hand, humble people are teachable and able to easily receive the revelations in their hearts and see the benefits flow in their lives.
“A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none [for his ears are closed to wisdom], But knowledge is easy for one who understands [because he is willing to learn].” (PROVERBS 14:6 AMP)
No other person can really understand what you are feeling in your heart.
Only One can: God. You can share your feelings with Him for He perfectly understands you.
“The heart knows its own bitterness, And no stranger shares its joy.” (PROVERBS 14:10 AMP)
When making decisions in life, don’t be led by sight and your own mind.
What seems logical may not be what’s best for you.
Always involve God in the decision-making process - pray and ask for His guidance.
“There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, But its end is the way of death.” (PROVERBS 14:12 AMP)
There’s many articles, videos, blogs etc. out there talking about the Bible.
Check that they’re Grace and Jesus-Centered, and not Law-based, mixture, or unscriptural. Don’t just believe and accept whatever you read or watch in your heart.
Like Pastor Prince says, “right believing leads to right living”, so always filter a statement first by double checking with the Bible for yourself first before believing it.
“The naive or inexperienced person [is easily misled and] believes every word he hears, But the prudent man [is discreet and astute and] considers well where he is going.” (PROVERBS 14:15 AMP)
Are you being oppressed by evil right now? Don’t worry, good will always overcome evil.
Victory will be yours in the end - put your confidence in Jesus!
“The evil will bow down before the good, And the wicked [will bow down] at the gates of the righteous.” (PROVERBS 14:19 AMP)
Faith in motion is a powerful thing. Act on what you believe and it will produce results.
Simply knowing isn’t enough.
Already know that the Lord renews your youth like the eagles?
Then talk young, dress young, and act young - do it because you believe it.
“In all labor there is profit, But mere talk leads only to poverty.” (PROVERBS 14:23 AMP)
Jesus defined the “fear of the Lord” as worship of the Lord.
Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”” (Matthew 4:10 NKJV)
This is the verse that Jesus was quoting to the devil in the wilderness, as recorded in Matthew 4:10.
“You shall fear the LORD your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name.” (Deuteronomy 6:13 NKJV)
Feeling fearful, or battling with chronic sickness?
Worship God and you will receive strong confidence, healing and life.
“In the [reverent] fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, And His children will [always] have a place of refuge. The [reverent] fear of the LORD [that leads to obedience and worship] is a fountain of life, So that one may avoid the snares of death.” (PROVERBS 14:26-27 AMP)
There is profit from having self-control. Remember this the next time anger seeps in.
A person with a good temper shows signs of being wise.
“He who is slow to anger has great understanding [and profits from his self-control], But he who is quick-tempered exposes and exalts his foolishness [for all to see].” (PROVERBS 14:29 AMP)
Having a restful heart produces life and health to our body.
When it comes to rest, nothing produces true rest in the heart like believing the sure promises in God’s word.
Are there areas in life that you’re worried about?
Meditate on God’s promises for those areas, and become conscious of His overwhelming supply that exceeds the lack.
For example if you’re feeling depressed, meditate on “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, of power and of a sound mind”.
“A calm and peaceful and tranquil heart is life and health to the body, But passion and envy are like rottenness to the bones.” (PROVERBS 14:30 AMP)
This verse is not talking about a nation having the right laws, judicial systems, governance etc.
Instead, it’s saying that when the gospel of grace is preached and people in the nation start believing that they are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, that’s when the nation will flourish and grow.
“Righteousness [moral and spiritual integrity and virtuous character] exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people.” (PROVERBS 14:34 AMP)
