💌 Dear Mr Dad,
Remember this precious moment 11 years ago? Remember all those beautiful years we had working together side by side? Remember going back and forth to London every week? Remember staying up till late to meet the deadline? Remember the joy we had after all the hard work? Remember your photography & design studio in the heart of Birmingham city centre?

Ohhh how I miss the good old days! To be able to work long hours. To be able to walk tirelessly. To be able to see flawlessly. To be able to breathe without pain…

Thank you for giving me years of priceless experiences that I wouldn’t trade for anything else in this world. And yes, if you asked me, I would do it all over again with you and only you. But as for now, even to be able to wake up every morning, still breathing, and to see your face next to me is more than enough for me…

Maybe I will never be that same energetic person ever again but I promise you that for as long as The Almighty allows me to get out of bed every morning, I will keep on supporting every step of yours until my last breath. And let’s finish #TheOldForgeCottage - our dream house project - together…

💌 Dear Adam,
After more than 2 years, I finally gathered enough strength to go back to our favourite place. I thought I was ready until we arrived there and I couldn’t even open the door to step my foot down from the car. As I peeped around from the car window, our whole memory together rolled back and hit me like a wave of tsunami. I quickly looked at Mr Dad’s face and thank God he understood my signal right away. He took the kids down and left me alone in the car.

There I was, at our favourite place, stuck in the car, my legs felt like jelly, my hands were icy cold in the late summer heat, my heart was pumping hard, my whole body was trembling like a volcanic mountain ready to vomit its lava…couldn’t make a move, couldn’t say a word! And not long after the kids disappeared from my sight…my tears ran down like a heavy rain. I cried and cried and cried.

After almost 2 hours, the kids walked back to the car with wide smiles on each of their faces. I was stunned looking at them. I spotted a sign of strength in them. Yes, they are stronger than me. They were so happy. They missed the place so much. They talked about our memories together. They took a walk down the memory lane walking back the trail that we last took together when you were here. And they already planned to come back again soon to create more memories at our favourite place.

And I’m glad. Relief. I found my strength back in them. I know this time I failed to get myself out there. But at least I’ve made the first move. InshaAllah next time I believe that I will be stronger to step down and be ready to create more memories with the kids at our favourite place. We will definitely be talking about you and how much we are still loving you…

Good Morning & Happy Weekend from #TheOldForgeCottage 🏡 Yes, it is still morning now in Birmingham 🇬🇧 As I am posting this, it’s only 10.20 o’clock in the morning over here…

Anyway, today we are blessed with the special appearance of The Twinsie Chefs - Fatimah & Ali - helping to cook in our cottage kitchen! However, since Ali is a professional chef, he can’t possibly cook without an apron. Sadly, we misplaced his apron and couldn’t find which box it was in when Mr Dad packed and moved the kitchen stuff from our old home to the new home. As you can imagine, the house went onto panic mode as Ali was on the verge of shedding his tears when he realised that his apron had gone missing…

Luckily, Fatimah - our very own fairy godmother - came to the rescue! She made an instant apron for Ali using a plastic bag - bless her creative brain! And that’s why we always say that Fatimah is the problem solver in our family. Thank you Fatimah for knowing just how to manage your lil’ brother and bring back a smile to his face…🥰

The most enjoyable time for the kids in their homeschool is presentation time! Every day, they both get a chance to present and talk in detail about their finished work. Just look at Ali in this video: he only drew a penguin, but from that one penguin, he could make a presentation up to 4 minutes long! It’s amazing to see how a 4-year-old’s brain works. From just a drawing, he can give a whole personality to his penguin. According to Ali, his penguin is also in lockdown, eats healthy food and speaks French too - what a masterpiece! But above all, the best part of this video is to see his spontaneous yet honest reaction when he got stuck and asked Fatimah for help, and then instantaneously praised her by saying, "My sister is very clever!" That just proves how much he loves and adores Fatimah - bless him!

p/s: This is one of those little moments that make my heart flutter...?

It’s a hard time for everyone during this #coronavirus #lockdown, especially children. It is highly important for us parents to give extra attention to our children’s #mentalhealth. So we decided to include the routine of discussing our feelings in our #homeschool timetable.

This is one of the examples of the discussions we had with the children. Fatimah chose to share her feelings through writing while Ali expressed his emotions through drawing. As you can see from the video, the kids are a bit emotional coz they’re missing their teachers and friends at school.

Obviously, as kids, it’s normal for them to feel curious and anxious about this #pandemic which is new and unknown to them. But as parents, it is our duty to educate and reassure them. And don’t forget, children will remember little of what they learnt during this #crisis, but they will remember how they felt…
