Chào dì và các bạn,
Nói thật thì mình đã suy nghĩ rất nhiều về những gì bản thân có thể chia sẻ đến các bạn. Với sự phát triển của thời đại hiện nay, thì các bạn chắc hẳn đã có một mạng lưới thông tin rộng lớn để các bạn tìm hiểu khi có thắc mắc nào đó.
Vậy mình sẽ chia sẻ điều gì?
Mình nghĩ mình sẽ nói đơn giản những gì mình nhận ra sau quá trình hơn 8 năm tự mày mò, học chính quy cho đến đi làm chính thức về ngành thiết kế (design) nói chung và ngành thiết kế thương hiệu (brand identity) nói riêng. Đây là những điều ai cũng từng nghĩ đến một lần, hoặc mắc phải. Nó có thể không khiến các bạn kiếm ra nhiều tiền hơn (thiết kế là nghiệp nghèo rồi bạn ơi :))) ) nhưng mình nghĩ nó sẽ giúp bạn định hình lại về con đường phát triển của bản thân bạn
1. Đừng nghĩ biết vẽ, thích vẽ, vẽ tốt - tức là bạn phù hợp với ngành thiết kế đồ hoạ nữa!
-> Khi mình học lớp 9, mình cũng từng nghĩ rằng phải biết vẽ abcxyz, phải có phong cách tô màu này nọ thì mình mới học được, làm được ngành thiết kế đồ hoạ. Nhưng thực tế thì khi mình nhận các dự án freelancer, hay đi làm công ty thì mọi người quanh mình hầu như đều vẽ khá…bình thường. Nếu không muốn nói là mọi người chỉ vẽ được các hình khối cơ bản như hình tròn, hình vuông,…Tốt hơn chút thì vẽ được động vật, con người hoàn chỉnh nhưng…nó cũng nhìn xí xấu không khác gì mấy bản nháp nghuệch ngoạc.
-> Nếu các bạn muốn biết bản thân có phù hợp với ngành thiết kế đồ hoạ hay không, thì trước tiên hãy tự nhìn nhận bản thân có tư duy của một người làm thiết kế hay không. Sau đó mới đến sở thích, năng khiếu với một ngôn ngữ hình ảnh nào đó. Và cuối cùng là học các kĩ năng (vẽ, phần mềm, 3D,…) để hỗ trợ ngành
2. Người làm thiết kế là người giải quyết vấn đề với giải pháp sáng tạo…nhưng phù hợp.
-> Có thể bạn từng nghĩ mình vẽ được nhân vật này quá mức vip pro; cái poster này là đỉnh cao của khác biệt; logo này quá mức ấn tượng,…Tuy nhiên khi hỏi bạn giải thích lý do lựa chọn hình ảnh, màu sắc đó - nó giúp giải quyết, hỗ trợ như thế nào cho vấn đề của khách hàng,...thì hầu hết mọi người lại im lặng hoặc chỉ trả lời là do bản thân thích.
Hầu hết các bạn đang nhầm tưởng ""sáng tạo” là yếu tố to lớn và mạnh mẽ nhất mà ngành thiết kế đề cao. Nhưng sáng tạo mà không thể áp dụng vào đời sống, sáng tạo mà không thể khiến khách hàng tiếp cận thấu hiểu thì sự sáng tạo của bạn chưa chắc đã có giá trị.
Mỗi ngày có hàng ngàn hình ảnh nhìn qua thì có vẻ đẹp, ấn tượng, khác lạ. Tuy nhiên bao nhiêu phần trăm trong đó sẽ được ghi nhớ khi nó không có câu chuyện bắt nguồn từ vấn đề thực tế bên trong?. Những gì đẹp thì thường chỉ để ngắm cho vui vậy rồi thôi. Để kiếm ra tiền thì bạn phải hiểu cái bạn đang làm chính xác là để làm gì, cho ai và tại sao họ cần dùng nó. Nếu không có được tư duy này thì mình nghĩ bạn chưa chắc đã phù hợp với ngành thiết kế đâu.
3. Trường học có thể không phải lựa chọn tốt nhất, nhưng bạn sẽ luôn học được cái gì đó.
-> Nhiều bạn ở đây có thể lựa chọn ngành thiết kế một phần vì ngành này không yêu cầu nhiều vào bằng cấp mà để ý nhiều hơn đến portfolio (hồ sơ năng lực). Cũng có thể nhiều bạn ở đây đã nghe những câu chuyện, chia sẻ về các môn học trong trường ở Việt Nam hoặc các câu chuyện du học khác.
Với trải nghiệm của mình khi từng học qua 3 trường đại học thuộc 3 hệ thống khác nhau (Việt Nam, Hà Lan, New Zealand), thì mình phải nói rằng quả thật đại học chưa chắc đã là một lựa chọn tuyệt vời nhất. Đôi khi việc học trong các môi trường hệ thống còn có thể khiến bạn cảm thấy chán nản, mơ hồ hơn. Tuy nhiên, sẽ không có một môi trường nào cho phép các bạn thử, cho phép các bạn sai, cho phép các bạn nghiên cứu phát triển bản thân nhiều như môi trường giáo dục.
Khi các bạn lựa chọn việc bước chân vào môt ngôi trường, một chương trình giảng dạy nào đó thì hãy hiểu đó là một cơ hội để các bạn thử khả năng của chính mình. Đó không phải là một nơi dạy các bạn kiếm tiền như thế nào, mà đó sẽ là nơi chỉ cho các bạn thấy sự khó khăn, những thử thách, giới hạn,…mà các bạn cần vượt qua nếu muốn kiên trì theo đuổi theo nghề thiết kế.
-> Nếu các bạn hỏi mình là có nên học đại học không, du học không,…câu trả lời của mình sẽ luôn là có. Vì ở đó chắc chắn các bạn sẽ học được một điều gì đó về bản thân bạn, về ngành nghề hay về cuộc sống nếu bạn chịu học :)))
Cuối cùng mình chỉ muốn nhắn nhỏ là nếu các bạn có dự định đi du học mà không biết portfolio của bản thân đã ổn hay chưa, thì mình sẵn lòng tư vấn giúp các bạn phần này. Tất nhiên trong email các bạn hãy để một chút thông tin về trường các bạn định apply, con đường các bạn muốn theo đuổi, điểm mạnh/yếu các bạn cảm thấy về khả năng bản thân,…Mình sẽ cố gắng giúp các bạn nhiều nhất có thể trong tầm hiểu biết và trải nghiệm của mình :D���

Although many countries have begun to reconsider how to balance what they get in return for trading with China, this question has always been existential in Taiwan. Trade policies have oscillated inconsistently between opening up and restricting access to the Chinese economy. The challenges of doing trade with China is a global issue. Today’s guest is political scientist, Syaru Shirley Lin (林夏如), author of the book “Taiwan’s China Dilemma” (2016) and the forthcoming sequel “High Income Trap in East Asia.” In this episode, Lin maps out the economic ties between Taiwan and China and what drives policymaking in that area.
Lin retired as a partner at Goldman Sachs before becoming an academic. She now teaches world politics at the University of Virginia and global political economy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Today’s episode is hosted by J.R. Wu - Chief of the Secretariat for INDSR (Institute for National Defense and Security Research) in Taiwan. Wu is a former journalist with nearly two decades of media experience in the US and Asia. She has led news bureaus for Reuters and Dow Jones.
